A thread dedicated to our precarious battle to avoid the dreaded trap door. As things stand on 27/02 we are in quite a perilous position sitting only 4 points off 3rd bottom with those around us seemingly hitting some level of form Current Odds Posh - 2/5 Bookies seem to be pretty certain of the fate of the posh although they are clearly going to have a few ups and downs from now until the final day. Brizzle - 1/2 Another one the bookies will fancy to fall through the trap door, have they left it too late to drag themselves out and have they got enough in the tank? Barnsley - 11/8 Probably the most 'up for grabs' 3rd bottom space in the football league as the bookies don't really know who to go with but it looks like Barnsley have the 'edge' Wolves - 6/4 Surprise failures this season and although having installed a new up and coming manager have failed to hit the straps and yet to win under his stewardship. Have clear ability in areas but a lack of confidence and balance are still hurting them Huddersfield - 5/2 Have been dropping like a stone since Xmas but a new man in charge could be enough to steer them clear for this season. Sheffield Wednesday - 4/1 Haven't been able to stop leaking goals and have lacked any consistency but have dragged themselves into form in recent weeks so time will tell as to how long that will last Ipswich Town - 5/1 Another dire and drab season and after a very strong resurgence under MM have dropped back into the scrap and seem to be lacking goals Birmingham City - 6/1 Have been loitering above the drop zone for much of the season and seem to be able to do enough to keep themselves above it for now but have also lacked goals and are in need of money to pay their overpaid players Blackpool - 9/1 Like Huddersfield have been dropping at an alarming rate and the bookies consider as having an outside chance of relegation, how Ince Snr gets on in charge is still yet to be seen Any thoughts and opinions on the current state of our relegation survival chances then this is the place to discuss
Bolton were in the mire a week ago and now after back to back wins they are 10th! Just goes to show how tight this league is and there is still plenty of games for us to get the points needed.
KOPR You might as well include all the teams up to 10th within your relegation watch as it really is that tight this season!
I am truly worried at the moment, I fear our lack of goals and attacking endeavor will not gain us enough points, I hope I'm wrong.
I agree SD, I was pretty confident when Mick initially took over after a few results that we would comfortably stay in this division but given our performances since the turn of the year I'm really not very confident!!
I was having a good chat with a Wolves fan. He cannot see where they are going to get the points to get them out of the mire. We managed to depress each other & we are both now convinced we will both go down. I cannot see where our points will come from. Are there three worse teams than us ?????
Speaking of Wolves we really need Watford to do us a favour on Friday night and beat them otherwise the gap could be just 1 point before we kick off on Saturday!
It's February. What people are not accounting for on this thread is that there will be a couple more twists before the end of the season. Teams go on bad runs and then hit a vein of form. Other teams suddenly plummet. It's too early to call time on anyone, I would hazard a guess that Posh and Wolves won't have enough come May but for any given team anything could still happen.
Lancs, but who will be a third team to take a dive & do the decent thing for us,Bristol City ?? Nice clip JWM Just watched "The Passion Of The Christ" on sky plus. Could have done with a bit of eric Idle imput......
A pretty much ideal Saturday afternoon for Town, other than Posh winning everything went our way and hopefully Wednesday don't get the win later to cap a great day. Also what a player Dwight Gayle is turning out to be, maybe worth trying to nab him off them next year if we stay up and Posh fall through the trap door
Yeah, a lot of the other teams have dropped points this week and we look better for now. Norwich lost by 4 too. Great saturday.
Gayle should definitely be an option IMO, I thought we should've gone for him when DJ left. It was a massive day for us today particularly after the Huddersfield game, I'd say this was so far the most important game of our season!!
Good result today chaps, well done. Our opponents were a little better than yours, no complaints about the result, though the scoreline does flatter them somewhat!
In true JWM style, I am now not truly worried at the moment. I think our ability to score and our attacking endeavour will see us gain enough points. I hope I'm right.
Oooh, low blow JWM, not nice I'm actually thinking of starting a ****in' petition or something regarding the banner. Either that or post Micks e-mail address and have everyone swamp him with messages. Believe me mate, me and KOPR are every day pushing this issue on the mod board, so far to no avail.
