Now that Wigan are officially relegated, we have our three teams dropping to the Championship: Reading, QPR and Wigan. With the loss of revenue that relegation brings, all of these teams will be looking to offload players to free up their wage bill. Are any players worth a look at. Most of them will be cheap and happy to come to Arsenal, but its hard to see which players are any good in teams that are not up to scratch. Here's my take on the players. Wigan - with a passing style of football very similar to our own, these players might not need as long to adapt as some. James McCarthy A central midfielder who sits deep and keeps possession, very much in the style of Arteta. Only 22, he's already made over 100 appearances in the premier league and whilst not standing out as a match winner, he is a very decent players. Could be worth getting a replacement for Arteta sometime soon, and he seems ready made. Cost - £5m Callum McManaman Jumped onto the scene this season with some very good performances towards the end. Absolutely destroyed Clichy on Saturday, although granted, that's not very difficult these days. Will have a lot of suitors due to his recent performances, but at 22 still has a lot of potential to fill. Predominantly a right winger, although he can play on the left as well, he might be a good buy for the future, but I don't see him making an impact in our current starting XI at the moment. Cost - £7m QPR - a team full of lazy, selfish, money-grabbing players; are any of them worth even taking a look at? Julio Cesar Once touted as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, his reputation has dropped quite a bit in the past few years. At 33 he could become the more-experienced goalkeeper alongside Szczesny to provide him with competition as well as being a sort of tutor. Cost - £5m Loic Remy A player we've been linked with in the past. He went to QPR for the money, but I don't think we put a bid in. His preferred position is as a striker, where his pace and strength give him plenty of opportunities to score goals. He can also play on the wing. At 26, he is at his peak, with little potential to become a world beater; but he can provide decent back up all across the front line. Cost - £7m Junior Hoilett Was probably Blackburn's best player last season, although he hasn't done much this year tbh. Plays mostly on the left wing, a position that we could do with adding another player to. Quick and skilful, he also scores quite a few goals. At 22 has plenty of potential. Cost - £5m Reading - a team that doesn't really have any stand-out players, possibly a reason they were relegated. Chris Gunter A 23 year old right back. With Sagna possibly leaving this summer, this is a position which we need to buy in. He's an attacking full back, although I'm not too sure about his defensive side of the game. TBH, I only put him in here because I wanted a Reading player on the list and he was the only one who seemed to fit. Cost - £3m Personally, I think only James McCarthy and Loic Remy are worth a look at, and I would much rather have better players fill those positions. Honourable mention to Adel Taarabt who on his day is a fantastic player, but his work rate and constistency mean he will never be good enough for a team like Arsenal. Discuss.
Big thanks to Arsenal from a SAFC supporter tonight (shame about Wigan though) now go on and wallop them up the road from us, and we want a result at Spurs to finish above Newcastle.
Drude, none of them are of the calibre we need if we are to get back to our rightful place, battling it out for top spot each season.
