We all know we have the hardest run-in but after reading this I feel more confident we'll survive. Burnley and Sunderland will do well to pick up another 7 points. I think the predicted 34 ponts will be enough this season. So, 6 points but from where? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
MOTD 2 pundits made the excellent point that had ocurred to me in the last few days, that playing mid-table teams is actually preferrable at this point, and I think we have the most of those, with Swansea, Southampton and Palace. Liverpool will probably be out of the Top 4 race by the time we play them, and Arsenal's title chances firmly put to bed. Who knows, we might be able to pick up 6-7 points out of that lot. Not even mentioning Burnley who we really need to be beating.
Bit of a worrying stat not winning any of the 8 games Jelavic missed through injury this season (D3 L5). Paul Merson's verdict, he's tipping Sunderland to go down... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...erland-burnley-qpr-leicester-who-will-stay-up
When I saw Sunderland field Danny Graham then I knew they were absolutely desperate and were doomed to relegation. They have some good larkers nevertheless but with Poyet in charge it was a case of the 'blind leading the blind'! I think QPR and Leicester will go with them. Whereas we have been 'lucky' to have three worse teams than us we can also count ourselves very, very, unlucky in conceding goals in the last 5-10 minutes which have cost us 10 points at least and the fact that we have had probably the worst injury list in the history of the Premier League. With a full strength team we could be formidable and consolidate a 'third quarter' position next season. Still looking for some depth in the middle and up front.
We've been awful, absolutely abysmal yet we've still taken 6 points in the last 8, We grind out draws and have done all season despite being awful. We could stay up with just one more win if we keep picking up steady draws. If Big Dick brings about any kind of improvement we should be safe easy, looking at the run in I wouldn't be counting on us not picking up the points to keep you safe, your fixtures are undeniably way way tougher. All that said I think Burnley will go down.
Sorry mate, my bad grammar. I have altered my post to "with Poyet in charge it WAS a case of the blind leading the blind"! P.S. I worked in Darlington, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and South Shields in the 60's and always went to Sunderlands mid-week games if I was there. Fantastic support in those days.
