Back on the board after some time out and it is pretty clear to me that the good ship SAFC is holed below the waterline and we're going down (again). But, thinking about it, there are some plus points. All the loanees will go. I'd like to keep Borini and Ki, but this dependency on other teams' players has got to stop and now is as good a time as any. I understand that the players' pay will be cut, so it shouldn't be too hard to get shot of some of the older players like O'Shea and Cuellar, who we could do with getting shot of now. If some of the pillocks with a year left on their deals stay, they will be good enough for the Championship and we can get rid if we bounce back up first time. Parachute payments. 'Nuff said. A drop will give Gus a chance to rebuild the club from the ground up. I don't understand how players who can reach a cup final can be utterly pathetic against the lower Prem teams. We need (another) culture change and this time for the long-term. Hopefully, this time, we'll get it. It's a damn sight easier to get tickets to away games! I would undoubtedly rather stay up. But if (when) we go down we've seen the mags, West Ham, West Brom, etc. all bounce back stronger from a drop, so I don't think it's the total disaster it could be. Besides, it's only 4 months before the new fixtures are out
Players & owner, comm. Too early to judge Gus. He's got us to a final and he almost righted the ship, so I wouldn't hang our troubles on him. Ellis has picked some right duffers, though. Di Canio was a massive gamble and a gamble of long odds at that. And the Italians he brought in like Di Fanti clearly didn't work out. I can't blame him for Bruce or O'Neill, but the Board don't exactly inspire me. The players are the real culprits though. They have been complete **** for some time and a clearout is long overdue. The mags don't have a great bunch of players, but the smarmy twat in charge has them playing like a team, while ours have trouble stringing two passes together sometimes. Beggars belief...
Good to be back, mate. Been tough, but back to the footy (or at least what passes for footy at our place)
Trying to salvage something from this embarrassment...my most enjoyable seasons have probably been in the championship where ideally you win more than you lose and look for instant promotion/play offs so hoping next season for some of the same.
Alright Sid, hope you're well. 7. The promotions of some of our younger players (Ba, Wattmore, Karlsson, Mavrias, Laing, Gorrin, ect)
The truth is, and this is the very first time i've said this outright. Short has to have some **** at his door, but for myself, the main culprit is John 'o ****ing Shea. That ****er lead the revolution and went crying to the boss..(come on, where else could this happen, a mutiny of overpaid ****s, crying they don't like the boss). O'Shea, get out of the club, you utter **** stain, and take your bum chums with you, you soppy, pampered overpaid load of ****e. That's just my opinions like.
Cheers, FP. I certainly agree with you on the younger players. Particularly looking forward to seeing Duncan Wattmore, who is probably Championship-ready having been at Hibs for a bit.
I think he'll get better and better with a run of games at that level, he's very driven, determined. Got a good head on the lad.
I've been on O'**** all season mate, he gifts goals away, big, big goals, and he was a leader in the PDC kick back from the players. Let's go back to early doors, Palace away, we've gone 1-1, we are looking likely, and he slashes someone down for a penalty, we go on to lose 3-1. Now, that result alone is a 6 point turnaround. If I was to list every goal or incident that the **** had a responsibility, or share of, then I'd crash the ****ing forum. He is shocking, appalling, he should never be in the squad, he should not be at the club, and he floats about above it because he won some trophies as a distinctly 'make-do' filler in some fantastic United teams. The lad is ****ing ****e, he was good in the air when he first came, that was his saving grace, now he's too slow to react and he doesn't get off the ground. For me, he is easily, comfortably the biggest playing reason we are where we are,
