This is my 7th 1977, 1985,1987(the worst) 1997, 2003,2006 and last now I am not renewing until there is a change from the top. The worst thing is the stadium will be half empty every home game.
We seem to have been in a relegation dogfight all my life , that or a promotion fight. It's what we do.
We just haven't gained enough points over the ridiculous fixture list this season. I think most sensible people would have us in the bottom three looking at the fixtures before a ball was kicked. We may make a go of it but realistically we are down.
Spot on. Almost every one of my 40 years following the lads have been like this. It gets a little tiresome at times.
Our fixtures have been pretty much the same as the other teams, but losses to Fulham,Palace, Stoke, WBA, Hull etc have been our undoing. To be frank I think we saw the two sides to Sunderland last week with the fight we put up with Chelsea and the timid surrender to Spurs. This weekend is our chance to break the cycle. I have seen too many inconsistent performances this season to give me confidence that we can play or fight our way out of the present fix.
As I said "pretty much" indicating not a straight comparison, but from memory Cardiff, Palace etc have played the some of the top lot with some reasonable results. We haven't performed against the lower clubs which is where their points came from. As stated, this weekend will be the acid test.
We've played all 7 of our seasons biggest home games consecutively (top six and derby) no other team has had run anything like it. I don't think our fixture list can compare to anybodys myself. You're right about the acid test though. We must keep it tidy, is scrap is the only way west ham pick up point.
Hi Bonny. I was at a talk-in at the Chester's years ago with a couple of players and the manager. Can't remember who he was now. That same question was put to the manager. The tosser's reply was - well at least it's interesting isn't it? Went down like a lead balloon and made himself look a right dick-head. What I wouldn't give for mid-table mediocrity.
