With our place pretty much secure for next season, which players would you potentially like to see Saints sign from those in the relegation fight, if that team were to get relegated. For me:

    Norwich
Redmond (thought we should have gone for him before he joined Norwich)
Ruddy (would provide very good competition to Boruc)

    Crystal Palace
Bolasie (I thought he looked very threatening yesterday, but would depend on his consistency)

    West Brom
    Berahino

    Cardiff
Caulker (would be very good competition at CB, especially if Yoshida leaves)
Noone (would give us something different on the wing, and has had some very good games this season)

    Sunderland
Don't like the look of any of them really - maybe Mannone if he's happy to deputise for a couple of years

    Fulham
Same as with Sunderland (there's a reason they're bottom!) - maybe only Dan Burn who looks to be a decent prospect at CB.

I can't see any team above Norwich going down at the moment, but feel free to include them if you think they may.

Adam Johnson. If Sunderland went down we should bid for him.

We hate it when people start circling like vultures around our players. Most relegated teams try to hold onto their contracted players in the hope of immediate promotion, so not sure many will become available unless the club is in financial difficulties. I suspect we will carry on giving youngsters a chance and also bring in virtually unknown players from abroad that Mauricio feels can fit our style...the latter being the most important thing. As we found with Osvaldo, Saints need pieces that fit the jigsaw...you can't just trim the piece to fit. I doubt we will sign anyone from the relegated or lower sides.

Definitely Berahino, he's class. Wouldn't mind Johnson or Redmond, and Caulker seems to have a new lease of life. Funny how nobody mentions Hooper these days, but he's still a good striker playing in a poor side.

Stretching the boundaries of the thread, hopefully Leicester don't get promoted and we could go for Schmeichel.

You may be right, but I think some players may want to move on, as opposed to the club having to sell, which can play a big part. I think some of those mentioned could easily play our style, or give us a plan b if things aren't working, and potentially be cheaper and less risky than signing a foreign unknown.

I don't think any of those listed are good enough on a regular basis. Redmond was exciting a few of us in the Championship and then he joined Norwich and scored against us, which seemed to give many the impression that he's better than he is. He's not done a lot, and nor has anyone on that squad. In fact their clear best player has been Snodgrass.

I can't actually think of a single player in any of those clubs who I'd really like to see us sign.

Snodgrass is better I agree, but Redmond is younger and has great potential. In a better team he'd surely have a bigger impact.

I'll include Swansea in the mix given that they are on the same points as Norwich. That provides Bony, Michu, Shelvey, Vorm, Dyer and Williams for your consideration.

Stretching the boundaries of the thread even further than Chilco, when Chelsea miss out on the title and wind up spending £200m on strikers that Mourinho actually rates, I still want us to sign Ba.

Ruddy is too good to be a number 2.

I'll pass, good player but his wages are crazy. I doubt he would want to reduce them that much.

I agree but both Caulker and Redmond look promising.

I know he is on loan, but I don't think Holtby has a future at Spurs so we should definitely be looking in his direction. I think Noone would be an upgrade on Davis as he has a better delivery and offers better defensive play than Ramirez

I don't rate Noone at all.

That's probably why these teams are in a relegation fight. However, it has been mentioned that we need more depth and sometimes a plan b throughout the season. Plus, there could be one very good player stuck in a poor team, or a good youngster. For example, James McCarthy signed for Everton from the relegated Wigan, so you do get some relegated players with the ability to play for a much better team.

If Swansea were to go down, there are some very good players there.

Caulker is probably the best of the lot.

    Oh and Giaccherini actually.
