There seems to be an interesting battle developing already and some of it is quite unexpected The bookies (via the betting trends) have Burnley, hull and Sunderland as heavy favourites for the drop. fair enough but other sides do look very very dodgy So what are your views on this? who is going to go down? who do YOU want to go down?
Southampton are quite high up that list, think they look weaker than previous seasons. Burnley and Sunderland are definite relegation contenders.
My first impression from that table was Everton's odds look very strange. Far too soon to say isn't it, might as well call it before the season even starts but I suppose that's the fun of it. Reluctantly I say Burnley, Middlesbrough and Stoke. Who I 'want' to go down Utd, Chelsea and whoever Tony Pulis has atm
My view at this point is that if I were a swansea or stoke fan I'd be very worried. Swansea look like they have made a bad managerial appointment really, its not really any better than it had been and they've bought in guys trying to just get that one more year type performance. stoke have been shocking. totally unexpected. I have seen though their start is not incomparable to last year so they may improve. Southampton look like they have bought badly and appointed badly also. They should be slightly worried too. By contrast Hull who were obviously heavily backed early have done pretty ok thus far... now we all know a start is not a season (Blackpool for instance) hull have 7 points.. thats 20% there after 13% of the season... thats not bad is it.. its only 3 points off LFC who are not 5/1 to win the thing!!! I think West ham have been weird but i think bilic will be wokring on getting the goals against back in line. they have been throwing goals in lately.
BTW... the best odd so each team are in bold. Sunderland at evens seems like interesting value. I would however say 3/1 on the swans seems like a value bet to me. I just think they are not right and could find these forwards they bought or loaned or whatever have no real skin in the game and could just not bother. i just get the whiff of villa off them for some reason despite them doing "ok" on 4 points so far. swansea have city, Liverpool, arsenal and watford next before they play stoke... then its utd... so... they COULD have 4 points after 9/10 games.. so.. thats not looking so good is it.
Tobes would like a particular to be relegated, he wants to take Andy Carroll to Everton and give him a lifeline.
I said at the start Swansea Southampton and Hull. Southampton I'm no longer so sure on and think Sunderland might take their place.
Where is Gerrez Tarot card reader?. If he can assure me that city are going to be relegated 4500 to 1 I will invest £200.
So after another weekend. Sunderland look in do do. Westham look terrible right now. Hull blew up, Stoke scraped a draw and Swansea look ****ed
Stoke, Swansea & West Ham have enough fire power to get away from the relegation zone. Hull have no notable goalscorers, Burnley are too reliant on Gray to score their goals and he hasn't started that well anyway (and is now banned for 4 games) and Sunderland only have Defoe that will score goals. Going with Hull, Sunderland & Burnley to be honest.
Over the longer term you are probably dead right. I do think someone might just implode and fall into it though.
Out of those 3 the only ones that I think might have a chance of staying up are Sunderland due to the experience of David Moyes & the players in battling relegation in previous seasons. I know what you are saying though in the sense that a team like West Ham could see the discontent surrounding the new stadium and maybe someone like Payet leaving in January send them into an unstoppable spiral.
West Ham have too much firepower in Carroll, Payer, Antonio, Zaza to go down. Subserland need defoe to get them 15-20 goals to stay up. Burnley and hull look destined to go down, got no one to score goals. Swansea could be in trouble this year after losing ayew. But brought 2 big name strikers
