To last place on MOTD! Can some one please explain to me why the SWP incident was not a penalty and red card for Ruddy? I can see that his first touch was heavy and the ball had gone (probably) but Ruddy took him out. I note MOTD did not even bother to show it so I assume they think it is clearly not a penalty but still can't quite see it myself. Pity about Ferdinand's air shot that led to the first good goal. Fatty Lumpkin's second, again, was due to poor /slightly panicky defending. We could have cleared the ball at that point just prior to the goal. Seemed to me that Cerny had a fair game with the Morrison save early on. For those who went, was Warnock right in saying we should have won or is that just hype? Had to chuckle when the entirely biased Radio London digital commentator said that not may of the Norwich squad would make it into the QPR team. Well, it is the points that count. This is actually the first game that has got me miserable this season. I think we should have done better.
I watched a stream online, I think Norwich just shaded the first half but in the second half we were on top and once we equalised I thought we'd go on to win. The substitutions worked for Norwich as they scored shortly after making them but you could count six defenders in a diagonal line when the cross came over and Holt didn't know much about it but got something on it to score, as Warnock said it was crap defending. I think at that point we could have introduced Taarabt to try and come up with something as Norwich didn't look too secure at the back, but, unfortunately, he wasn't on the bench...
Attended the game with my son yesterday, and have just watched the highlights on MOTD In reality yesterday's game wasn't good quality overall, with both teams - us in the first half and Norwich in the second - seemly relying on long balls forward When we started running at Norwich in the second half we started having a lot more joy, and the Norwich back 4 didn't look nearly as comfortable defending on the ground as they did in the air. Our defending, however, left much to be desired, with too many mistakes - indeed at times we seemed to have too many players trying to defend and getting in each others' way. Not nearly enough tidying up in front of the back 4. I thought that we allowed Norwich to push us around, and allowed them far too much time on the ball, leading to us backpeddling rather than challenging Playing HH didn't work - given Norwich's strength at the back in the air - and I felt that when Bothroyd came on we started getting the ball down more and really creating problems for the opposition As regards MOTD, I don't know why they bother sometimes - our game was clearly an afterthought, with no analysis and not even all the key moments of the match picked out Anyway, onwards and upwards to next week - the sort of game we really must win. Fingers crossed we don't lose anyone else to injury this week!
Ruddy definitely got a bit of the ball before SWP. Even without our first and second choice keepers, captain and two best centre-forwards we really should have got a point at the very least on the balance of play but that's football.
I had to stay up until 1am (Paris time) to watch MOTD...and what an utter disappointment...I was a bit of a keano in that I watched the game in the afternoon, and then wanted to see the highlights and analysis in the evening...won't bother next week.
watched a very decent stream of the match, and while we were v ordinary in the 1st half we were by far the better team in the 2nd, and we looked as if we could go on and win. Their 2nd was v much agst the run of play and terrible defending. We got it off the line and it should have been wellied away. On swp you couldent fault his workrate, but the end product is poor, and looses possession too easily. An honest player who maybe needs a goal to kickstart him again
Watched the stream. Shocking defending, tactics and player positions didnt work. Young had a good game and Mackie worked hard, but we looked very very average. The back line looked lost and Im not sure Cerny has the respect or clout to command them?. Would have been a perfect game for Tarbs, but hes offski. How did Young miss that header near the end??..eek!.Once we miss a few key players,we seem to lose our shape and I must say Im a bit worried form what I saw yesterday, with injurys and player rotations. Got to get to Jan without being down the wrong end!. Big game saturday against the Baggies...
If you aren't able to watch a stream check out sky's footie first 50mins of highlights, we were always going to be last on MOTD against Norwich!
I also watched a decent stream yesterday didn´t bother with MOTD and that looks like a smart move as like Dave in Holland we are an hour ahead. However like him or loath him Joey was the difference in our play yesterday he just gives us that bit of quality and badly missed his free kick/corner taking. Ali was caught twice, once not really his fault, in possesion but luckily did not cost us but apart from those occasions IMO he was head and shoulders over any player on the field.
This is how I saw it too, good post. These are the kind of games I think we will win easily with Barton back, Bassong and a new goalscorer.
Thanks Guys, interesting read. Have tried to remain level headed but longing for January now with our generous benefactor's funds to spend. Feeling less miffed about yesterday until realised they are at LR 2.1.12 so no time for new signings before then. Drat!
