Frampton is possibly the best candiate out of the three established centrebacks (Framps, King and Richards) in terms of nuturing the young talents of Essam, Davies et al. Unfortunately his lack of pace was exposed too often with our defensive frailties but he can still be an key player for the team. I would like to see him in the middle of 3 centreback, pulling the strings like Danny Cullip did under Stimson

I don't agree with that about Frampton a good experienced player would be good at the back but not slow, they are not all slow.
The defence is rubbish and has been for a number of seasons so Scally is right to release them. We will need to bring in a couple of defenders which the new manager will have to decide. Does this mean Fuller, Essam and Jackman are staying? Hope so. It is also right to give the other young pros one more season as they are cheap, but if they progress then offer them better contracts.
really don't see what the problem is, the released list has to be confirmed very shortly by all clubs, thats why the club let these players go now.
i think with what defence we had this season, the club has it spot on regards who have been released...except maybe simon king, who i would of offered a pay as you play deal !
without a doubt i'm glad to see the likes of richards gone...he would of ruined the young players with his antics & style of play !!!

seen on KSN that simon king has said that even though he has been released, whoever comes in as manager...he hopes they give him a chance by giving him a new deal for the season or a pay as you play deal, so he can prove people wrong and get gillingham fc out of this league, because he feels he owes the club when he was out injuried and would love to stay with us !

What a top professional, hope he does work hard and gets a contract, so hope so, he is a complete legend in my mind,.
