Are Barcelona the only club to put ridiculous release clauses on their players, or do other clubs do it as well. They have put a £80m on Thiago with £130m on Pedro. Why don't we do stuff like this with our players as well. We should have done that at the start with Fabregas, and then see Barcelona try and buy him.
A lot of clubs in Spain do it. Our terrible cm Raul Garcia has an £80 million buy out clause yet Aguero's is only £45 million
I think that legally the Spanish clubs historically had to do it, due to Spanish employment law. If they didn't then the player could terminate their contract. Therefore, they put ridiculous buy out clauses in, to stop other clubs getting their players for zip.
QPR fan in peace......with the funds you have go for Clichy, plus likely to get for Cesc (I will be absolutely gutted if he does leave as he is a player I want to see) and possibly Nasri, do you think Arsene will bid for Rob Hulse or Helguson? We can offer a Bogof or the pair for a tenner.......interested? Also, out of interest: Modric and Defeo - although they play for your rivals, would you or could you like to see these two players in Arsenal shirts?
Love to have Modric but Defoe is a no from me. And don't worry Ninj, if you are lucky you may see Carl Jenkinson!
Just to answer yes, it is compulsory to include a release clause over in Spain. The ridiculous ones you see for top players are simply a means of preventing players from leaving on the cheap.
