Just got wind of a story in the Herald ref our Rueben being arrested on the Barbican for an affray outside a nightclub. Allegedly was worse the ware for drink but there are no more details other than that. First comment I'd make which is a general one rather than personal to the above is that no professional athlete who relies on fitness should be drunk at anytime. In fact I don't think they should even drink at all. Thought these people realised this these days. Don't care who it is or whether young or older. As for this story, I guess there must be something in it for the Herald to publish. We do not want another player doing stupid things when drunk and especially when he is our top scorer and in the best form of his entire career. Hope this doesn't go anywhere from an Argyle point of view.
Here is the story in the Herald ... http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/Str...oring-winner/story-23121735-detail/story.html
I must take lessons on how to do that. Apparently it was around 2.30am so plenty of time to get here from Tranmere. Unless drinking on the coach he clearly can't take his drink.
Rumour has it that Banton was being attacked and Reid went to his aid .... puts a whole new slant on the story ..... After numerous negative comments about Webb were removed of the Herald website which only left the positive ones I tend to now take what I read in the Herald with a pinch of salt .... Wasn't it them who made Webb the greatest all time Janner .... somebody there obviously has a sense of humour !
I can quite believe Banton getting under someones skin.....and maybe upsetting a well tanked up young alpha male with his 'attitude' style. But as you say Jools.....who can be sure with the Heralds approach to all things PAFC....what the truth is.....it would be a good defence of course for Rueben if true.....although violence cannot ever be condoned.
Yes he is certainly no better than 3rd greatest jools..... It does put a different slant on things, Banton has no finish so it makes sense. I do wonder sometimes at the way headlines are made about those in the public eye. Is this or was it ever a story in the first place or somebody being lazy to fill pages of print. If one of them had kicked somebodies head well and truely in and ambulences were involved then ok it's a story whether famous or not. However when a scuffle takes place and the supposed injured party walks off before the Police even get there well is that newsworthy? I don't think so as it is something that happens 50 times a night on a Friday and Saturday everywhere. I don't condone violence but I don't condone overpublicising either. After 2 days of nothing I suggest this was never a story in the first place or it would be in the public domain by now in full.
I agree, player's have been getting into scrapes since football began, unfortunately the media attention these days is intense and sensationalist and the slightest transgression can get blown out of all proportion. Hopefully it's something of nothing and there'll be no repercussions for Reid or Argyle.
Very good mexijan. He never challenges either. This supposed lazy journalism story seems to have died a death thank goodness.
I think it's had a reputation for a while now not just recently. The same sort of applies to Sparksie who to be honest should keep out of the politics of anything that goes on.
Quick bump on this thread for those who may not have seen the outcome of the arrest. Believe was Cautioned and there is to be no further action taken so that should be the end of the matter. I don't think this had much affect on Reid playing wise but it's good to get it out of the way.
