Got a report on the BBC on about the rent for the stadium, which surprising as we don't pay rent, the management company is responsible for making a profit, obviously that side of things has little input from the club, it's their business plan not ours!

Also the BBCs assertion that the council put up £27m for the stadium is crap, the funding came from the retailers and WAG grants, little if anything came from the council, apart from the land that was not really doing anything.

Just rehashed crap from BBC Wales !

    Bluebirds Broadcasting Corporation.

Experts at putting out bad news to deflect from the massive high that is Swansea City.

I've just read it and it clearly states in the article that:

"So far, SSMC has failed to ever return a profit which means no money has been paid back to the Liberal Democrat-run council."

How they can justify a headline like that is ridiculous.

Cue Prophet and that pillock CityArse screaming "Pay your rent!"

Even commentators from the Council seem embarrassed by the Council leader's statement that we should pay something now that we're in the "Premier Division". :emoticon-0112-wonde

The fact that the Swans have done a lot to raise the profile of this City, brought lots of jobs and increased tourism to the area seems to count for nothing. The Council Leader simply doesn't realise how big the Premier League is around the world.

His comments just make us look small minded and ignorant. Idiot.

The Club is on a good crack. We pay next to nothing in rent and in return we bring the World to Swansea. Sounds like a great deal to me. Maybe the Blueturds should have thought of it so that now they're in the Prem and have that £90M they.........oh wait a minute. <laugh>

I've just read the article and I'm quite flabbergasted by the lack of objectivity, and the quality of the journalism. Actually, flabbergasted is incorrect, as it implies surprise... it's probably more like gravely disappointed...

The issue needs debating considering the current rumblings from the Labour council side, and we should throw in the seating issue or the lack of it, just posted a new article on this, yes the BBC are lazy here, but they have raised some current developments which we should look at!...............

I think this issue is simply politicians trying to score points with non Swans fans who live in Swansea.

"We're trying to get the taxpayers some money!"

Bollocks, you're trying to curry favour so Labour will get back in next time. Not fooled.

Edit: Phil, while I agree there are issues to be looked at, the way the politicians are bringing this up stinks. The deal was agreed BY the Labour council (as far as I'm aware?), so if they don't like it they should have thought about it harder at the time.

It was someone on Swansea Council that brought this up. The BBC are just reporting it. Don't shoot the messenger. And stop being so paranoid.

Reflects badly on the Labour councillors who have raised this non-issue. "We'e raised the spirits so how about raising the bank balance" sounds like some numpty vote-getting comment dreamed up by a rugby man.

last season we only paid a nominal rent when the attendance was above 16,000, this was agreed by the then council, this season we will obviously pay more but the opposition want us to pay a lot more, it will never happen as the stadium is a three way split and the opposition are trying to cash in on our success, because of our rise to the top companies are clambering to bring their buisiness to swansea and the local economy is growing with extra trade being generated because of our premiership status,
