Basically he's in a win-win situation. If he keeps them up (which if he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is he probably should with the squad he has and so much of the season left) then he's performed 'miracles' but if they go down be won't be blamed and he'll just use the excuse of it being mission impossible after inheriting a load of overpaid prima-donnas. Either way he'll be in the papers every day further feeding his ego whilst being paid a king's ransom and will walk away an even wealthier man than he currently is. Regrets? Na, I don't think so!
Yep I think he knew exactly what he was getting into. Like Munky says, bit of ground work on contingency planning in case he fails.
