Players back fans and local charity Published: 21 October, 2014 by Sunderland AFC Travelling supporters who attended defeat at Southampton offered ticket refunds. Sunderlandâs players have today offered to refund supporters the cost of their match tickets, as well as supporting a local charity, following Saturdayâs defeat to Southampton. Fans who do not wish to claim a personal refund will have the cost of their ticket donated to Sunderland-based childrenâs charity Grace House, which provides respite services for children and young people throughout the North East region, who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure. Speaking on behalf of the squad, Sunderland AFCâs captain John OâShea said: âWe win and lose as a team, players, staff and fans, however we wanted to acknowledge and thank the supporters who travelled such a long way to give us their backing and despite everything, stayed with us until the final whistle.â Anyone wishing to claim a refund should contact the club before 5pm on Wednesday 5th November. Supporters are kindly asked to return their match ticket either in person at the Stadium of Light ticket office or by post: SAFC (Refunds), PO Box 165, Sunderland, SR5 1WF. Supporters must enclose name and address details, along with their customer number. After the November 5 deadline, the outstanding money not claimed by supporters will be given to Grace House.
fair play to them...but they could really pay all the fans back by giving a passionate display against Arsenal
I don't think they particularly needed to do this. One question though... Do you reckon people kept their tickets? Who the **** wanted reminded of that travesty!
Id be shocked if many asked for a refund. You'd think only the hardcore fans would have gone and they know it comes with the territory. Theyd paid for admittance to the game not a predertimed outcome that suits them. I hope the grace house gets the 60, 000 grand
Its a great gesture of player solidarity and just what the club needs, and our supporters deserve, I think Grace House are in for a deserved bonus this Xmas.
Class this, for the charity I mean. The gesture is enough and for Grace House to benefit, fantastic. Now, a good show v Arsenal please lads and we will be alright.
I'm painting, cleaning and generally tidying up the place on friday for my day to make a difference with work, its a great cause
Send the £60,000 to me. I'll take it. I'm not going to make grand gestures and noble speeches for these tossers. I was shamed and disgraced by them on Saturday. I've wasted - repeat wasted - over half a century following these ****s, and 8 - 0 is what I get. Sod it. Why shouldn't they send me £60,000 compo? Put it in the post boys - I accept. Screw you, too. How I wish all 40,000+ supporters would think like this. Perhaps then this club would wake up. We've swallowed their sh*t for far too long. Why shouldn't we be angry? - Tell me that.
Because its a freak result, at the end of the day we lost 3 points, there are 30 games left, lets give them the chance to put right the most pitifull of wrongs
Why don't we give them half a century to put it right like I've been doing? That sort of thinking is precisely how these tossers get away with it. My sincerest hope is that the takings at the SOL this Saturday is nil pence. I hope not a single fan turns up. It's what they deserve. How about they earn their corn for once. God knows, we've waited long enough for it, haven't we?
Think you'll be disappointed as there'll be thousands proper fans doing their part in helping us bounce back, not to mention the proper fans who can't make it who'd jump at the chance be there, willing us on. I take it you won't be there and you won't be taking an intrest?
No point being angry, up until this point we've done OK. If we dwell on the Southampton game we'll only suffer as a result, if you don't like it you don't have to go to the games.. Very impressed with this gesture from the club and players, most important thing now is to just move on and put in a performance vs Arsenal
Hang on, can you describe 'proper fans' to me please? Sheep? With KTF on their tee-shirts? O.k., so keep the faith in what exactly? Christ, funk, we haven't been given anything to keep the faith in since 2002! Seriously, I don't believe in Christ because I honestly cannot see any evidence for his existence. Bit I'm asked to keep the faith in a club that has consistently shamed us for ten years, and for a further thirty years before that. It doesn't make sense, does it? Can you see what I mean? I think we need to make our feelings known more, instead of buying their 0 - 8 merchandise in the club shop, and handing over £30 or £40 for tickets as we would any other charity case. SAFC is not a charity, it's a business, and I want to know what I'm getting before I hand my money over. Ok, of course I realize they can't guarantee a win next week or predict the score. But I do expect them to tell me we're not going to quit and ship eight goals next Saturday. Is that wrong? I wouldn't accept that from any other business, so why SAFC?
I'm sure they will. What I'm asking is 'why?' What makes them worth it? What does SAFC do for their money, other than a bottom six or seven position every year, plus of course, a bag load of dreams which will promptly fall down our ankles yet again next May? I'm not being facetious, gonads. It's a serious question. When do we get wise, and ask SAFC what are you tossers doing for your money? It's gone on for years man, decades. When do we ask questions instead of just saying 'baaaa, baaaa' and handing over our routine charity money?
They're acting as roughly the 15th best football club in the country consistently. That's what they do each year. If that's not enough for you I suggest you look at Chelsea but know that a lot on here would and have lived with a lot less back than 15th.
