It's another pointless boring International break, ( Personally I don't care for England after the last WC, JT, Capello etc, I never bother watching them. ) They mean nothing to me. But anyway, that's probably another thread starter. Referees... They are an integral part of our game, I realise they are human and like most of you, are prone to mistakes. Why are they not allowed to be interviewed after games? It would be great to get their insight into a marginal decision, brutal honesty, whether right or wrong, straight after a game would appease most fans. For some reason they are put on a ' higher than thou ' pedestal and out of reach of fan & club. They seem to be the ' Untouchables ' of the football world, I just don't get it!!! So much is made of who the appointed referee is for certain games are, yet they are so un-accountable for their decisions after a match..mental. No sooner has the final whistle blown, and the poor old manager is hauled 'live' before the camera, often questioned on a refereeing decision, and with no chance to retrieve something said after the heat of battle. Yet the 'Ref ' sails off into the night without re-crimination of a poor, or good decision, until we hear of it in his book at the end of his career when the damage is long done.
If Tevez can sue manchini how long until someone sues a ref because he has come out, admitted a mistake and a club have become relegate from said mistake.
No point in putting the ref on the spot after games - there may be items in his match report that either bring about additional FA punishment and sanctions, or allow cards to be rescinded etc. If the ref goes on record discussing the match before the report has been properly submitted and reviewed, those decisions (such as, to take a hypothetical example, the captain of one team racially abusing a player on the opposing team, which gets missed by the ref but seen on camera) are compromised and any punishments meted out by the FA couldn't then be fairly administered. Also, if the referee knows they will be quizzed on live tv in front of millions directly after the game, they are far less likely to give what may be contentious decisions, therefore the 'big clubs' will get away with far more than they currently do and I'll guarantee that diving and professional fouls will increase. I'm all for allowing the referees to do their job as best they can, and sort out the issues and problems afterwards, just as we do today.
Might be boring for you mate but it ain't pointless. Its the Playoffs with a load of players leaving on International Duty!!!
Think you'll do it swords? You should do, old Trap will have the door latch bolted tomorrow for a nil nil, then beat them back in Ireland.
Against the mighty Estonia. Depressing isn't it? He's a terribly negative manager, Italian to the core. I think we'll qualify alright but if anyone is expecting fireworks while this guy is in charge, forget it!
Right enough Tooting. Usual long-ball stuff in the first half but once we played ball in the second we was clinical. Can't complain about Signora Trap, he got us there in the end.
