You couldn't make this up. I don't know if any of you have seen who is officiating our game on Saturday, and labouring the point here, against Manchester City? Anthony Taylor. And where was Mr Taylor born and currently lives? Wythenshawe, which is in..... MANCHESTER Will he travel down in the team bus?
This is not new. The Premier league scrapped the idea of 'neutral' referees as they are supposed to be 'professional'. In fact GT was quite taken aback when he got us into the Prem to discover thT our game at Sunderland would be refereed by Jeff Winter who lived in Middlesborough but TRAINED at Sunderland in the week! It was all first name terms with their players, and 'Careful sonny' to ours. He didn't actually ask Niall Quinn when he wanted a pen, but it felt like it. So we have little to fear from Anthony Taylor. Really ?
Although he has confessed to being an Altrincham fan - or should that read 'the'? And don't forget that he did send off two City players on the opening day of the season. Mind you, I still haven't forgiven him for his atrocious display against Spurs a couple of seasons ago.
It'll be our third time this season. Might as well not play Okaka as he got sweet fa against Sociedad.
Don't worry - it was nearly a year ago! You'd think City might have got over it. They have the quality and ability not to worry about what the ref does anyway...
Maybe he is a Man Utd fan so will help us out.... I went to Uni with a guy from Banbury, where Dermot Gallagher lived. Dermot declared he was an Oxford United fan but apparently he has a Man Utd tattoo, which all the locals knew about
