With the outcry, derision, contempt et al for Marriner, with his "slight" error of mistaken identity, I haven't heard too much regarding the Utd/City game last night.

Fellaini on Zabaleta!! The ref was perfectly placed, 5 yards away, clear line of sight. How then, did he not send Fellaini off for that appalling elbow? It's not like he hasn't got previous. There have been several incidents over the years, one of the most noticeable on Shawcross, where elbows and a & head-butt took place. I wonder if Michael Oliver will be in trouble for missing that one?

We know that Luiz isn't the most ethical of players at times, but Fellaini is just pure nasty.

I'm guessing that as the ref "saw the incident" and gave a yellow, there can't be any retrospective action against the thug?

looked like Fellani deliberately set out to elbow Zabaleta
really is a stupid rule that as a yellow was shown no retrospective action can be taken

There's got to be case for the police to be able to act on this. It was GBH pure and simple.

Bad refs are not exclusive to the PL, they are world wide. The Bloke who refed Real/Barca was trigger happy with penalties.
Here in Oz we've got a one armed ref, he can only raise it one way. 2 teams play, but he only refs one. And the prize goes to some of the refs in the Asian Champions League. They bring them in from the middle east, Korea, Thailand, Myanmar etc and they are more entertaining than the match. You need a translator to work out the arm movements.
