The estimated £75m project at Anfield, is expected to start later this year, subject to planning consent. The construction giant has been named the "preferred bidder" by the club and the scheme, including associated public realm works, is likely to take around 20 months to complete. Carillion chief Richard Howson said: “I believe that being selected for this prestigious project reflect Carillion’s reputation for high standards of quality, health and safety and sustainability. “We looking forward to working closely with Liverpool Football Club to create new world-class facilities at its famous Anfield Stadium.” Carillion hopes to keep as much of the existing Main Stand in use as possible during the building work and said it would do this through an innovative construction programme. If consent is granted, the proposals would see the capacity of a new Main Stand rise by 8,500, taking it to nearly 21,000. The overall Anfield capacity would also increase to around 54,000. The Carillion group is a leading support services company with a portfolio of Public Private Partnership projects and capabilities for a wide range of construction projects. It employs 40,000 people and operates across the UK, the Middle East and Canada. News of the Liverpool contract came as the company released a half-year trading update for the first six months of 2014. Carillion said its first-half performance had been in line with expectations and that full-year targets remained unchanged. First half revenue was expected to be slightly lower, as previously announced, but the company was on track to resume growth in the full year. First-half half underlying earning were likewise in line with expectation, with a slightly improved operating margin and new order intake remained strong, with first-half orders and probable order of £2.7bn. Cash was expected to be strong with profit full cash-backed and average net debt reducing. The trading update said: “Overall, the group continues to perform in line with our expectation and remain track to resume revenue growth in 2014, despite market conditions remaining challenging.”

http://liverpoolfcfeed.nonissue.com...er-final-houses-are-demolished-for-96-avenue/ Liverpool's Anfield expansion plans to finally begin after last houses are demolished for 96 Avenue Homes were knocked down on the Main Stand side of the stadium which is to become a tree-lined road in honour of the Hillsborough victims Jul 30, 2014 13:30 By Phil Dawkes Homes were knocked down on the Main Stand side of the stadium which is to become a tree-lined road in honour of the Hillsborough victims Liverpool will finally start their long-awaited Anfield expansion after derelict houses on the Main Stand side of the ground were demolished to make way for a new 96 Avenue. Almost all houses on Lothair Road have now been cleared to make way for a tree-lined road in memory of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster. Developers said this would host both match day and non match day events and would mainly be used by pedestrians with limited vehicle access. With work on Lothair Road nearly completed, the focus will move to knocking down homes on other streets on the Main Stand side, including Alroy Road, Rockfield Road and Anfield Road as part of the £260m scheme. The Anfield redevelopment will see the ground's capacity increased from 45,500 to 60,000 in time for the start of the 2016/17 season. This includes plans to incorporate eight apartments within the extended Anfield Road stand. Alan Bevan, of City Residential estate agents, said: "Given the unique nature of what is proposed, I would imagine that there would be a phenomenal interest from some of Liverpool's most devoted fans. "It is difficult to say what they would be worth, but I am sure there would be huge demand for such a unique property." Liverpool Football Club is working with the City Council and Your Housing Group on the development.
Working in the construction industry I can confirm Carillion will be up for it and won't go bust! I think they are currently the 2nd largest construction company in the UK behind Balfour Beatty.
We do a lot of work with Carillion as well. Work on a lot of projects together working on infrastructure contracts etc.
Done a fair bit with Carrillion, mostly a few years ago when the BSF scheme, (schools) was running. So does everyone on this board work in the construction industry or what? lol
