Jamie Rednapp is currently picking his team of the season in the Daily Mail with Krul just being pipped as keeper by Joe hart. However, it was great to see Colo picked as the best CB alongside Kompany. Kyle Walker & Leighton Baines were his choice of full backs. I await the midfield tomorrow and forwards on Saturday.

IMO based on this season's performances, Colo and Kompany would be the best CB pairing there is.

It makes me orgasm thinking about it.

Both have good pace for CB's. Kompanys aerial power, strength and aggression, Colo's skill, quick reactions, ability on the ball. Both intelligent defenders.

If Colo had a touch more pace to his game he would be one of the best CB's in the world IMO.

Agreed, he's not in the same level of pace as Luiz ect, but he's not slow, he's quick for a CB indeed.

He's accelerates quite quickly, aided by his reactions, and his pace over a long distance is good for a CB.

I don't really hear many people talking about his pace, but for CB he's got good pace. I've seen him get back quick enough to stop fast forwards.

Well normally his positioning is so spot on that he doesn't often need to use a huge amount of pace and running, but on the rare occasions that he is slightly out of position or caught on the break he struggles to get goalside of his man and that's when we concede, basically you breach Colo and you score. That's why our defence dipped so much when Saylor got injured because he was always great at last ditch blocks on the rare occasions that Colo was done.

Good choice Kompany is the best CB in the league with Colo a very close second.

Kompany is the best in the league for me. To be honest I agree with every one of those choices for the back 5. I think each one of them has really stood out. If Ashley Cole wasn't still so good, I think Baines would be pushing hard this summer. But Cole just seems to go on and on. Fantastic player.

Sorry, I'm one of Colo's biggest fans, but he's not quick, not even for a CB IMO...He doesn't need pace 'cause his vision and positioning is so good and I agree his reactions are brilliant, but out and out pace? I just don't see it!

I'm not saying he's got out and out pace, and I never said he was ... QUICK, but compared to most CB's he is!

He's not in the same level of pace as Kompany, Luiz, and he gets outpaced by quick players. I'm not saying he's FAST as a FAST forward, but he's quite quick off the mark and travels at decent pace over a significant distance I reckon.

I don't look at Colo and think "wow he's ****ing fast", and that's not one of the things he's known for. But I compare his pace to most CB's and he's quicker than they are.

I don't like it when people say he lacks pace due to the fact that he's been beaten for pace by quick forwards at times. Just because he's not as quick as them, doesn't make him slow.

If you actually watch him, sometimes he reacts and accelerates at an impressive rate, and getting back he's quick for a CB.

My dad always said to me Colo was slow and we could use a quicker defender, but you don't want to know the amount of times I've said "told you so", when Colo has reacted quickly, accelerated and caught someone up.

Again I'm not saying he's QUICK, but he's got decent pace for a player, and canny pace for a CB.

He's not in the same league of pace as the likes of Kaboul, Kompany, Luiz, Ivanovic, but he's still got decent pace.

I think its more of Coloccini's awareness and reaction + his acceleration over a short distance(which has improved since the first year where I still remember vividly he got burnt by S. Gerrard).. His reading of the game coupled with the reaction makes him look fast. The knock on Colo is that he's acceptable in the air, and he isn't the bravest to block shots(Think Saylor being sniped)..

Good choices but I hate to see this but I still think Ashley Cole is the best LB, even if he is getting on.

I don't see how Baines has been better than Enrique this year.

Enrique has been epic as always!

He is but I suppose he had his ups and downs when AVB was in charge. Still the better player but maybe Baines has had the more consistent form in the league overall. Cole is one of the few of the old brigade who deserves to go to the euros

Looking at Chelsea you would say that all the Chelsea team suffered under AVB. I think Hodgson will take Cole to the euros, I dont think Rio Ferdinand should go, he is struggling for me.

Wouldn't take him or Terry who has also been struggling. I think Cahill, Jagielka, Lescott are all better defenders now. I'd take Jones because long term he'll be useful. I think if Saylor had stayed fit, he could have forced his way in. Terry and Ferdinand both look to have just gone past their best.
