Redknapp praises Young after QPR return Luke Young of QPR 08/04/2014 By West London Sport Harry Redknapp praised Luke Young after QPRâs 2-0 defeat at Blackburn â the injury-plagued defenderâs first competitive appearance for two years. Young, who has been troubled by a hip condition since being signed from Aston Villa in 2011, was brought into the side because the likes of Clint Hill and Nedum Onuoha were unavailable. And Rangers boss Redknapp said: âI thought Luke Young gave it everything at the back. It was a difficult night, his first game, but I couldnât fault his effort. âThey just looked bigger and stronger than us. We had problems with the team â Clint Hill, Nedum Onuoha and Aaron Hughes werenât fit â and they had big centre-forwards. QPR manager Harry Redknapp Redknappâs team are struggling. âIt was difficult for us. Their front two had good movement and to be fair they looked a strong team. Weâve got to pick ourselves up and go again.â The defeat was Rangersâ sixth in their last eight away matches and they are now 13 points behind second-placed Burnley. But Redknapp played down the significance of their poor form ahead of the play-offs, insisting their promotion rivals are also stumbling. He said: âDerby have been losing, Wigan lost at home to Millwall tonight. Thatâs how it is. âWeâve got to pick ourselves up from the disappointment of not being in the first two and try to make sure we make the play-offs now.â
I hope Bloody Luke Young was brilliant. In his two years and nearly eight months with the club he has "earned" over £6m, and played 27 times for the first team. That's £223,000 a game. For the current season its £1.35m a game. If he was that good i assume he'll be a fixture for the rest of the season. Or until his hip goes.
Hes now sounding like making the playoffs would be a bonus. Lets face it we are scraping in at best. No form, no strikers, defence is shot, no clear strategy or formation and a horrific injury list
HR's tactical shortcomings have been laid bare this season but to say he's hiding behind the injury list is unfair. Our problems in the treatment room have truly been of epic proportions this season and I can't recall the club ever going through such a sequence of misfortune. The only surprise is that Redknapp hasn't made more excuses - you can only imagine how Mourinho or Wenger would react in a similar situation.
True about an epic injury list but how many of these are down to the training/fitness regimes and the way the players are prepared for matches and training. There's been a lot of muscle strains and training ground injuries.
