So since we seem to entertain a bit of TYS (told you so) on here and doubters come in two categories, overt and covert, let's start the 'Arry era by going overt from the outset and tabling our initial views on this appointment.

For the not606 QPR board record, who thinks 'Arry is bad news for our club - and why?

This shouldn't be about trying to convince others at this stage, it about having the trollox to state what YOU think now.

As for me, I'm completely trollock-less astride the fence on this one. Whilst fully aware of 'Arry's track record (including no major triumphs and leaving wannabe clubs like ours in the financial do-do), the need for such change was so desperate that only someone like 'Arry (and there ain't many to choose from) could allay our worst nightmares.

Just consulted the oracle that is Lady BrixtonR, well known for her powers of intuition so much so that she is forbidden from commenting on outcomes of games before the final whistle (although she's crap at predicting lottery numbers!). She doesn't have any particularly bad feelings about this appointment but just doesn't see 'Arry as an R.

So come on you seers, let's be 'aving ya!

As a manager I think 'Arry will do a good job for us. Motivational and a proper 'football' bloke.

I'm not bothered that he's been about a bit and off-pitch antics are a PR disaster area. All he has to do is -

    - Keep us up

Thats it. I think he is the best available option today right here right now that can do that

As you say Brix, there wasn't a huge amount to choose from. I'll own up right here to being a huge 'arry fan. Personally I think he's in the right place at the right time, if anyone can keep us up then it's probably him. Time will of course prove me right or wrong.

    In summary, a good appointment.

Harry won't settle for lazy players, players not giving 100%....he constantly looks angry and he commands respect. Hughes on the other hand was a wet pushover with no personality. We have good players and Harry in my opinion is the best option we have at this point in time. I can't stress how important staying in the league is this season. Harry is our man.

Think my view is pretty well documented Brix. Overrated, and I don't find dodgy geezers charming. This is a very short term appointment, though I can understand its appeal.

BUT we obviously needed a change, if he can keep us up I'll be happy enough. I won't spend ages on here moaning about him, and will give the benefit of the doubt and credit where it's due. But my patience will be limited, he has to turn things round quickly. He has a decent squad, lets see if he's really up for it. Interested to see who will do the actual coaching.

The worst that can happen is that he is given a free hand with transfers and salaries, something that Levy at Spurs kept well out of his hands very wisely, and we end up in the Championship with a bloated squad.

I concur with what you say, he is our best and only option so as is the way with QPR, let's ride this new wave.

Looking at HR win % I would say that if he matches his 40%+ that he attained at most clubs he managed then our grimly looking fate has become less so.

If you are talking about wasting money, surely we have already done that on AJ and BZ?
I doubt even 'Arry would have done that.

Not the best long term option but the only option to keep us up. He will turn it around i believe because the players that we have are good but for some reason didn't play for MH.
Gutted that it didn't work for Sparky as he was changing the club in all areas (except the team). I only wished it had worked for him but sadly it was his team of players that cost him his job.
So Aryy for now but in 2 years i am not so sure. However if he keeps us up we will all want him to stay.

I think the biggest positive will hopefully be the addition of Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond to the backroom staff. At least them two will be able to sort the team out unlike Bowen who appears to be tactically inept.

Good thread Brix. I have called Arry overated before as he has only ever one one notable trophy but agree with general consensus thatin current situation he is best possible appointment.

He is a high profile manager and he has signed alot of ego's also likelihood is Sir Les will follow him through the door eventually which is great on a number of levels.

Likes of SB who are a being too say the least reserved on his likely appointment should at the very least suggest who we should appoint instead (as he isn't actualy official yet)... If you cant come up with a better altertnative for right now then back him and keep quiet about the future as we dont know what league or what our financial position will be

    I have my doubts.

    - Hes old so how long will he be here?
    - He "doesnt do tactics" so who will, especially if he doesnt bring his backroom team in
    - Saints bought him in and they were in a better spot than we were and he relegated them.
    - Whats going to happen with Taarabt?

Saying that, watching us under him should be a whole lot more enjoyable than under Hughes, games were dire under him.

We needed a change to have even a hope of staying up and Harry is ideal for this role. What he doesn't seem to do is buy into the off-field stuff that, if you believe what we're told, Hughes & co excel at.
In short, provided Beard makes sure that the much needed momentum on building up the training/academy infrastructure is not lost then Harry can be left to his own devices to do whatever he likes to make our current bunch of misfits perform. He has my vote.

Jurgen Klinsmann. Read my post - which was in response to Brix's OP asking for doubts and why. In it I say I won't be moaning. But given your attitude of 'shut up if you don't agree with me' I may just renege on that one.

    What's your problem

Perfect example. Cpme up with a better alternative or back him and keep your doubts too yourself. Without a better alternative your douts are irrelevant for the here and now.

We need to be positive and if this is the right decision for now then lets be positve!!

You having a laugh?!! He is manager of U.S.A

Been open about loving life out there were he already lived before his appointment. Forget about his lack of experience at club level Hvaing paid out Hughes do we need to pay out a contract for another man with no track record managing in the prem. For me that's a poor call

Martinez. Dave Mc said he thinks we could get him.

Theres a dozen or more better alternatives here. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/qpr-specials/next-permanent-manager
This is a thread for expressing doubts, so I did.

I'm sceptical but if he does the biz and keeps us up, I will be delighted.

I just hope we give him a Rafa type contract till the end of the season only and review it from there. Reward him if he achieves his goals, get rid if he doesnt without a huge financial penalty to us.

As long as he can keep us up, I'm all for it. He may only get a short term contract,
based on keeping us up.Let's all give him our full support and stop moaning.
