You might have a point you know. I think it has been easily forgotten, and the whole court case, because we were playing so well and then blame the whole England mess because it fall inline with our bad form. Maybe it isn't him thinking of England (oh err) but just the strain of the heart attack, court case and pressure around being named for the england by everyone but the FA.

I say this, if I went though all that in a space of a few months I wouldn't be as good at my job too without a good holiday / break first.

Hi MOTS, I think the court case probably drained him more than anything else. <ok>

He had a week or so off following his court case and went on holiday, courtesy of Levy.
He had virtually no involvement with the team in the build up to the Newcastle game.

That is correct. He had 5 days in Dubai paid for by Daniel Levy.

Oh well, thats alright then!...a week!...that should do it!...no-one prepared to cut the guy a little slack on that one? Inconvenient for Spurs to say the least, probably to our detriment, but its just one (or 3!) of those things we'll have to deal with. There's nothing that could be done change any of them, his health?, no, the stupid CPS?, no, some stupid Italian?, no.
 
A week is hardly going to do anything. It would take him that long to maybe not think about work let alone rest. People have a month or so 'off sick' for less and still never work at 100%. ****, a week just about re charges my 31 year old body for about 3 months of early starts working in an office all day before I start to feel run down. I'm not a lazy person and go gym about 5 times a week so that might be why <laugh>

The manager gets tired and run down, but the players don't?
You don't agree with rotation, but you think that Redknapp needs a break?

I think that we all know why Redknapp took his eye off the ball and it's nothing to do with the CPS or his health.
Even Darren Bent would hit the target on this one! <laugh>

Problem is we'll never know why but it's possible reason because it all happened at the same time. I just don't get how thinking about the England job would cause this much trouble... there has to be more to it.

I just don't believe the whole England thing cause the problems. More an excuse if you ask me and Harry is always full of them. We're probably all wrong and the players hate him.

i agree with you about the health issue and ive been giving the gaffer hell..however i wish he would just say that his health has taken its toll,if that is the case.....i bet the fans would cheer his name from the terraces regardless of the results if that was the case..however hes seemed to have blamed it all on,on the pitch performances and therefore people have addressed that and blamed him for it..as he is the manager.
 
His whole, "I don't know why we're not winning," spiel is incredibly frustrating.

as opposed to saying 'we will turn this around'..but i think he does not say this because he knows we wont turn it around this year....and hes selling sand to a bunch of arabs here (metaphor) by saying we need to win 6 out of 7,5 out of 6..i think we are down to 3 out of 4 currently...
 
If all these issues are to explain the tactical changes I have to ask why and how?

When VDV joined it took some time to fit him into the team in an effective way for the rest of the team. Bale was first played at left back, Crouch caused overuse of the long ball. These plus Harry's apparent preference for picking the team and letting them express themselves without too much in the way of control. (An attitude I applaud btw) leads me to wonder what has happened in recent games.

Bale has increased his wanderings during the game as has Lennon. Modric has found himself all over the pitch looking for space to move the ball forward. Benny has made more pitch length runs a la a winger. In other words field discipline has evaporated.

Now, has Harry let them carry on because they have done so well earlier in the season and then failed to have a word here and there to pull them back into line. I remember he said they had been working on Bale moving to avoid the 3 defender situation and cause the oppo's more problems. Fair enough but should he not equally say to Bale that he should not over do it?

OR! Has he started to believe the hype and feels he is now a master tactician who will soon be putting this into practice for England. Is he practising?

All speculation of course and it could be that the players and Harry, his coaches and all, are all baffled. Just a run of poor form, bad luck, and tiredness.

All this should be why a manager is worth 2 mill a year so in the end it all comes down to.

Sort it out Harry! Or perhaps to be more realistic; Sort it out Daniel!

i honestly thought this a few nights ago as i lay in bed staring at the ceiling pretending to listen to the gf....but i thought id be shot down for suggesting it..i really did think he is trying new things as he will do as England manager...you ae not alone with such thoughts Spurf.
 
The idea that anyone could possibly be lying in his bed at night, dreaming of positions for Fat Frank and JT, has rather put me off my dinner thank you very much.

No need to take it to the extreme PNP, The fact you have has created a rare stupid post from you. I'm not saying its the sole reason at all, but its a factor thats not been mentioned. Opinion without that would seem to make Harry a bad manager overnight which isn't the case, short comings yes, but made more apparent by the disruption in the middle of the season...perhaps! I'm not looking for excuses for him to stay, I'm still not sure of my reaction if he goes or stays tbh.

As for rotation, I do not disagree with it at all...when its warranted, and some suggestions for the odd change on here are totally valid, I tire of seeing idiots and their idiot suggestions overdoing it, jumping on a bandwagon they have little knowledge of, trying to be clever, 'put this twat here, and he can do this and that! laughable some of it...laughable!

I too sugguested something like this in a earlier thread Spurf,. But not as eloquent as you.
The thing is, that way back in early February Harry (I thought), might be trying to show that he is more of a tactician then everyone had given him credit for. Thus improving his chances for the England Job.
I've reported that a large part of our pending demise is the fact that Harry started to 'audition' for the role as England manager too early.
He started moving players around and all over the place like 'Julius Caesar' or somebody. I'm sure he had thought that the odds were in his favour, to at least secure Champions League football here at Spurs. So in an attempted to display his feathers, peacock like, he weighted-up the odds and gambled.
The trouble is, I think, that he gambled with the future of Spurs in order to enhance his own future. Had the season finished back in February there would have been a win win satuation. Harry would've been Yelled as a 'good, clever tactical and astute manager and Spurs would be off to play Europe. However the season is not over and still his private audition continues., but now, is to save face for both himselve and the situation he has put Spurs in.
The odds were once in his favour but he should not have gambled with the future of Spurs in this manner.
He was already in pole position for the 'bloody' job.
 
If you adopt a policy deliberately buying players who are aging, or have a long history of being injury prone, because they are "bargains", you can hardly claim to be taken by surprise when they either slow up and become ineffective, or are once again, injured.
 
PNP - A perfect example of my previous post, is in the Pienaar thread suggesting he should have been rotated into the team in the first half of the season. Must have been referring to that as he was gone in Jan. So, here we have it again rest a player who's playing PL games once a week, in doing that you give that player a game a fortnight!<yikes>...yeah good one! <doh>, anyone who believes a player needs one game a fortnight at that stage of a season to satisfy 'rotation' is as clueless as it gets.
