Redknapp on the brink at QPR Bookmark and Share By Andrew Tuft Monday 24 February 2014 Harry Redknappâs future at Queens Park Rangers is in doubt after the Championship clubâs attempt to return to the Premier League took another blow with defeat at Charlton on Saturday, the Metro has reported. Harry Redknapp Former Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup is the candidate to take over at Loftus Road, according to a report by the Times. Laudrup was sacked by Swansea City earlier in the season having led the Welsh club to victory in the League Cup last year. QPR have slipped to fourth in the second tier after a run of four games without a win, which includes three consecutive defeats against Derby County, Reading and Charlton. Championship leaders Leicester City are 15 points ahead of the Râs, while Burnley, who occupy the final automatic promotion place, are seven clear. Leeds provide QPRâs next opposition and it is claimed a disappointing result in that fixture could bring the end of Redknappâs time at the club. Redknapp was unable to prevent QPRâs relegation from the top flight last season after replacing Mark Hughes in November 2012. The 66-year-old was formerly in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Southampton, West Ham and Bournemouth.
The Times!! Very interesting. Just not sure how Laudrup will handle us in the Chamionship, but surely he will at least have us playing in a clear and decent formation, which we have been lacking for a long time.
There was another thread on this and I posted on that. Read the article, it just says Harold is under pressure and Laudrup's name has been mentioned within the club. Personally, the only reason I can see him coming to us is to satisfy some craving to live in London. If he hangs around long enough Levy will have him for Spurs. Plus, like MacKay, he is talking legal action against Swansea, which makes it difficult to take up another job. Would be interesting though, depending on how much of the negative spin issued by Swansea (usually very loyal to their managers) you believe.
Morning Stainsey. Believe it or not, I just PM'ed you about yours! What I meant was this. I voted "stay" on the recent poll about should Harry leave now, or at the end of the season. However, I really rate Laudrup and would snap him up if available. As regards Killing Joke, love them. The Album cover is from a photo of a wall near the end of my Dads street in Derry.
Just heard Harry on Talksport reckon it's rubbish, reporter obviously wants to believe story. Harry said he'll be giving the Brazilian striker a chance soon. Desperation?...
he did turn them into a snoozefest into a club you can actually watch, hed have the same job with us albeit for totally different reasons.
all that talk of Laudrup making Swansea a passing team is pretty much nonsense as he took over a club which had been moulded into this first by Martinez and then by Rodgers. If we had to change and he would want to come I would prefer Malky Mackay as he KNOWS this league and English football. Would Laudrup be looking into the Championship, leagues 1 and 2 for talent, or bringing in high profile glamour signings he can get off his reputation alone? Sounds a lot like HR.... but would be delighted to be proved wrong
I agree with all of this, especially the bit " if we HAD to change..". I'm a great believer in stability. Also, as Harry himself said, if you'd have asked most fans whether they would settle for the playoffs at the end of the season, the answer would have been an emphatic "yes". He has basically rebuilt the team in a very short space of time without spending ludicrous amounts of money. Sure, the football has been mostly uninspiring and some of the team selections have been odd. But, personally, I can't recall a single QPR manager where I've always agreed with his team selections. On that subject, we have to remember that Harry gets to see what these guys are doing in training and knows what injuries they are carrying. But, being football, there may be a change on the horizon. I think Laudrup gets a lot of the credit for the work that Martinez and, especially, Rodgers did before he arrived. Malky would be a strong choice in my view.
McLaren would be another brilliant choice, if we could prise him away from Premier League Derby. Lots of dosh might be the answer....
I don't want any manager or player who only coming here for the money, it hasn't exactly worked out for us so far. Wed have to pay Derby a few million too and look like idiots after letting him go a few months ago.
Another Joke fan right here! I'm not sure about Laudrup tbh! I keep being reminded at work that apparently I'm a dead spit of Mr Laudrup, lol.
The comment about "dosh" wasn't totally serious but more recognition that he'd be difficult to get. I agree with you 100% about not wanting players or managers who are only here for the money.
Looks like the sort of story put out by bored journalists on a quiet news day......You can picture the scenario.....okay lads who's on a bad run, must be under pressure, rumblings of discontent on radio etc......I know Harry......1 point in 12, dropping away from automatic promotion, bags of money spent at QPR......lets do a story on him....... Last month it was Alladyce.....
Nice one Up the Rrrrs. Glad to see such discerning musical taste abounds on this forum. They recently released a new(ish) Album of Dub covers of their previous work. Not bad but love this first release sooo much. (Love Ron Manager/Fast show too. Have you got a plomb?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4UkmbpCbwA
Rodney - are you saying they really are trained and coached? I've not seen any sign of it and I can't believe Harry goes anywhere near the training ground. I don't think TF should make a change now. I'd rather see it happen in the summer and would much rather see a management/coaching set up with proper QPR connections - I'd have Bircham, Gallen and Furlong.
