Redknapp defends players after QPR loss QPR manager Harry Redknapp 11/03/2014 By David McIntyre QPR manager Harry Redknapp defended his players after their 2-0 defeat at Brighton. The loss was their fourth in six matches and meant they remain nine points behind second-placed Burnley having now played the same number of games as the Clarets. Rangers, already missing injured top scorer Charlie Austin, were also without Kevin Doyle, who suffered a knee injury at Birmingham on Saturday. They dominated much of the game at the Amex Stadium but were unable to break the deadlock before Albion scored twice in the space of eight minutes. Redknapp said: âIt was very frustrating. We were just waiting for a goal to go in, our keeperâs not had a shot to save, and suddenly weâre 1-0 down. In football that can happen. âIâm the first to hold my hands up when we get beaten â we were useless when we lost at Nottingham Forest â but tonight for 80 minutes we were as good as Iâve seen us play. âYou saw all the good play, the build-up and making chances â we just couldnât get on the end of it and score. âWe dominated the game, we just couldnât get the break. If could have got our noses in front there wouldnât have been a problem. âItâs difficult at the moment. We lost Kevin Doyle on Saturday and were already without Charlie Austin. Will Keane worked hard up front though and has a good future.â And Redknapp admitted that Rangersâ prospects of winning automatic promotion now look remote. âItâs going to be tough now to make the top two, but weâve got to keep going,â he said.
FFS we're supposed to be a promotion chasing team, we didn't want/need players who have a good future. We needed proven players if the board was serious about promotion this season which clearly they weren't
Sorry, but isn't scoring the key objective? Hence the name goal!! Failure by team and management to use their assets and achieve promotion.
We couldn't score because he bought in a l1 forward, a bloke who never scored a pro goal and the worst player I've seen since Ali dia.
If you take the percentage of possession we've had this season then we would have cake walked this league but unfortunately that wins you fcuk all, we all new what the problem was but was not addressed, I was pissed off about last season & now I'm going the same way this season, so disappointing loosing to average teams we should be putting away, I'll be glad when all these loans go back to there parent clubs because it has never worked for us.
We need to vent spleen here (and that's a lot of venting) before we get behind the lads on Saturday as I know we will do. As most on here know, bouncing back at first ask is not easy and it looks like that's the case for us too. To look on the bright side, at least we did not do a Wolves.
I'll be there on Saturday, but I have to say, I am finding increasingly hard to find the enthusiasm to make much noise.
You'll be fine once you get in the ground and we kick off. It's the next 90 mins that might be a challenge. COYRsss!
Rather than defending the players he needs to look at himself and his coaches and the tactics, if they have any
I passed that point a while ago, maybe I could handle is semi drunk but not with 4-5 hours driving along the same bloody road every time. Is there anyone who admits to enjoying watching us while sober?
