coming soon..... http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130610-agconsultation-858063.aspx quite looking forward to this,
How have fans been consulted widely? Anybody seen even one real picture of this design? Shall wander down and have a look but this consultation v what was stated would happen is bullshit.
It say in the there this is the opportunity to go and have your say to the development team! http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Plans-Ashton-Gate-redevelopment/story-19239463-detail/story.html They want your comments and feedback.
That was my response consulted widely with who exactly asking half a dozen people in the fans parliment that no one apparently knows (The blurb from the Fans group that every body should know someone from it is a piss take) is hardly consulting widely. Come to that how were these so called representatives elected as far as I am aware they nominated themselves and were selected by the club so they can hardly to claim to represent anyone other than themselves.
Just saw the article on Bristol Post website. The stadium looks good and would rather stay there than move to Ashton Vale. Not that it affects me but one thing that I notice is with the stands coming further back it means the parking is going but no indication where people would park so surprised they dont try and buy the wicks site, knock down the buildings there and use that as parking, or similar site in the area. As again if you are using the site for events which they plan to where are guests going to park. I just question whether seat number wise are they putting in enough as the overall seat capacity isnt going up much from the current capacity, we will just be seeing better facilities, corpate boxes etc. Like most fans I guess the main questions are, how will the new ground effect ticket prices (will they go up) and seating wise, will there be an increase in seating space (leg room etc) and will there be a standing only area which they have been talking about.
The club have said that until there is a change in the law there will be no standing for football fans at Ashton Gate, there might be rail seating in one of the redeveloped stands, but that will be locked down for football and could be unlocked for rugby I suppose, If they think it is likely that the law will be changed soon as it would be cheaper to do that when rebuilding than to change it later.
The fan who represents the Eastend tries to do his best, but your points are bang on. One can't speak for a thousand, and those who are onboard are they up to it? Bristol boy filled people with confidence on here!
There lies a fault in the "consultation". If the fans group are not actively liaising with fans the consultation cannot be wide spread. It is a box ticking exercise.
This is standard for any redevelopment. I remember when UWE had their consultation period for the rebuilding of the campus and they asked student groups for advice, despite the renovation already being planned. They actually went with the idea I (and probably others) raised regarding a stadium on the campus for the university, and they're now building a hotel (possibly the dumbest decision known to man considering how poor the current facilities are). What they'll show is almost the final plan, but they will add parts onto it based on what the fans want.
No they won't. The actual design is decided. If fans wanted wanted a Kop (or similar) style stand at one end, the plans don't allow it - The design will have a enclosure at ithe bottom. So, it can't already be a traditional type end. .
I know that I am prone to remember days gone by, but that's what happens when when has lived some 90% of one's life. We call it "Experience" as opposed to the impetuousness of youth and middle age. So here is my take on the way the Club is handling the new building at Ashton Gate and already have done at Ashton Vale. Back in the 1960's when Harry Dolman was City Chairman, he designed and built the Dolman stand. His money, his project and I certainly do not remember ever seeing any designs, any minute details about access, refreshments, toilets and so on. So when it was finished, many of us realised what he had built. A two level indoor Bowling club! with seats above the highest level, two male toilets at either end for 5,000 people to use in the TEN minutes of half time as it was then. A tea bar at one end. And some very dangerous straight staircases at each end and a few along the front. For those of you who do not know or remember, the Dolman stand was completed in 1969, just two years before 66 died on an exit stairway of similar construction at Ibrox after a Rangers v Celtic game. So was there any consultation about the design of the Dolman? A very definite NO So all the moaning now about lack of consultation and lack of public consultation is out of order. We all have access to the Board via email and Twitter by sending ideas etc via David Lloyd and others. The Club apparently has already changed it's mind about Executive Boxes in the Wedlock Stand and will put them at the rear of the Dolman instead. No consultation process is perfect. By the very nature of the process, there will always be some who are heavily involved and those who feel totally excluded. But in 2013, we have much more access to the Owners and Board of Bristol City than we have ever had in the past. So let's stop the knocking and everyone who can go, must go to see the Redevelopment Plans on 25th and 26th of June. The design will not please everyone, but if there is an immediate groundswell of opinion against any particular part of the design, there will be people there to listen. I'm thinking of flying over to see it. So if I can get there, all of you who live in and around Bristol, go to see it
Naturally, because that would be a significant change and would cost a ton. If a mock-up has been created we're far past the design phase. The fans will basically get to voice their opinions on things that can change, and to gauge the reaction on the plans.
It's been far past the design stage for months. Club decided months ago that there would be a enclosure in the wedlock for the rugby club.
It depends. I've been a part of two consultations, where one (UWE) had planned everything out, but wanted feedback and ideas for additional parts of the campus. The other asked for feedback and effectively ignored it. I reckon feedback will be taken, and that any obvious comments will be addressed. It's likely that they'll have the budget to make some changes, or that they've already decided on some changes since the designs were published, and will wait for the fans to pick them apart before publishing the revised version(s). I've worked with enough designs to know that changes can happen at any time. Well, then the board will have some strong words aimed at them for not listening to fan advice.
I sent several hundred words to David Llyod and he did not respond. I sent several e mails to one of the working group early in the process, he was unware of limitations of design and the parameters to work to. I also sent several e mails to the head of the working group. It was apparent that major decisions had already been taken. It was also apparent that because of those decisions, structural forms already set, that a long standing wish amongst BCFC to retain an end was an impossibility. So, those who could articulate thiis idea for a "end", and back it with previous actions e.g fans days, petitions ... Getting hundreds of fans into a previously unused space, could therefore never put a similar idea forward, as the design had already been decided for them. The re-location of boxes is based on logic, and finance. Fans views are peripheral there.
I am going with a group. You are wrong in that post though mate. Lads who did legwork for City regarding the EE couldn't put a big idea forward as the club had decided height, facilities and an enclosure for the rugby already. I thin k it will look alright but an opportunity if built has been lost. I think fans could have put forward a great alternative. You posted something about German football recently this sort of thing highlights why city can never be like that. Regarding access to the club I recently visited a Dutch outfit. People who have gone these will tell any they really listen to their fans. Different world as you can meet the captain, chairman and head of the supporters club freely wandering around bars chatting to fans.
