Now sticking his nose into what goes on in South Glos. Does not like the fact Cribbs Mall could be expanded by a third and take shoppers out of Bristol. The guy is a c--k. He has turned Bristol into a 20mph car exclusion zone and feels threatened when a neighbouring authority shows some vision. Will never forgive him for his meddling in Ashton Vale.
Every single person interviewed at The Mall today quoted the free parking as an attraction as to why they shop at The Mall.. now for all the arguments about whether we can continue to sustain car transport with the way it is increasing, he hasn't thought his policies through. He is moaning but he created his own problem. Why would you not go there if they offer a better product? This bull at the gate attack of car drivers throughout the City will eventually bite him on the arse large time. if those in the City boundary can be bothered to get off their arses and vote that is!
Never shop in Bristol living in south glos, we do not have a anti vehicle council,we prosper out here, cribbs will kill Broadmead when it expands,Broadmead will be a ghost town, especially with the dick red trousers killing trade with his anti vehicle stance. People need to vote him out in Bristol,he is wrecking it.
Since I moved out of Bedminster a few years age to South Glos the only thing I return to Bristol to buy is Clarks Pies from North St, apart from my team I don't need Bristol for anything but I do miss it though..
I heard something about him which was told to me by my brother. Unfortunately I can't repeat it but trust me it's true.
Moved out the city 12 years ago into south glos and apart from City rarely venture anywhere near the centre. South Glos Council just get on with things and dont dream up reasons why things should not be done. What I hate is Red trousers trying to drag in other authorities Newport, Cardiff , Swindon into opposing a fantastic development just because he fears competition. If I was SL and it was my money I would have built Ashton Vale equivalent at the Rolls Royce site and told Bristol City Council to do one.
The main trouble is that the land is very expensive at cribbs. Mall and vue, airhop, bowling etc is easier to access than Bristol and is open a later.
Also traffic is abysmal in Bristol and south glos. Gridlock everyday around AXA and mod. We need a looping motorway around the south and east of Bristol. 20 mile an hour limit is confusing in places as is not signposted well enough. I swear I'll fail my test because of the unclearity on 20/30 limit
If they ever build the M4 junction at Emersons Green then traffic around the South Glos side of Bristol will improve massively.
The guy is an egotistical twat whose shady business as to how he 'acquired' the Tobacco Factory' should also be worthy of an investigation. Unfortunately, there are a lot of anti car, tree-hugging eco-mentalists around the city who think he walks on water and can do no wrong. Again unfortunately, it appears that there are also no serious opponents standing against him this time, so you know what that means ! In terms of shopping, I cant remember the last time I went into Broadmead, but it's several years ago. I use the Mall at Cribbs simply because I work at Aztec West and then it's just generally M&S for a shirt or some trousers now and again. I wouldn't go there either if I didn't work where I do. Traffic at the weekends everywhere in the city means I do the food shopping as early as I can (05.00 isn't unheard of) on a Saturday before all the Chavs surface from their night on the White Lightning....if it still exists ?!
As with everything there are differing views. Out of town shopping (Supermarkets or Malls) is not something unique to Bristol but made sense from a business and customer point of view. The main criticism was that in turn in “killed the High Street” in many towns. If in fact people choose to visit the former, then whose fault is it? The users or the planners? Bristol has the second largest City GDP in the country and I am sure all Pension fund investment is carefully researched before being spent so the likes of Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway will continue to thrive. As regards The Mayor’s anti car policy via RPS’s and 20mph zones he will argue he is simply reflecting government policy. The sad fact is that we are “married” to our cars and whatever is done will be unpopular. The viewpoint of individuals and society are often different.
Yes I live on a road in a village used as a rat run by HGVs and cars,,that slip road would take it all away from the road fronting my property. Should have been done ten years ago. The problem being Emerson Green business park is going to dwarf what is over by Axa,Rolls Royce etc.Mind boggling what is going up there.
Is it really? I live in Emersons Green and while it is big, it's nowhere near the size of the area at Filton just yet. Intrigued by this as I'm just about young enough to remember exploring the area while it was still fields, used to play hide and seek in the foundations of all the houses!
I'm now showing signs of wondering what the hell you are all bleating on about apart from the usual where are you going to park routine I get every time I come to visit family. Who the heck is red trousers when he's at home, and I'm sure the nice ROD will set me straight in my overseas ignorance on this vital educational point. On a more positive subject I'm glad to announce that I will probably be at the last home game of the season because our ship arrives in Southampton that very morning and I will be travelling down to Somerset the very same day, so unless the bossy Ann says I can't go then I'll be there. Please be advised that parking is free everywhere in the area I live and the traffic is almost non-existent although I double parked with a horse the other day.
