This discussion crops up periodically, whether we should play it or not. Yesterday it was perfect for the occasion IMO. I love it, it's about recovering from adversity, which Charlton are doing, and when it came booming out at the end .....absolute bliss. Usually most fans ignore it and sing over the top of it, but yesterday many of those round about me joined in. Superb.

It was beautiful and really brought out the goosebumps. It must be played as often as possible.

Here’s a true story - the day before the final, I saw a single red robin in Orpington. I took it as an omen.

I'm doing some gardening at my old mum's house (every now and then) and most times when I dig a patch of soil a red red robin comes bob-bob-bobbin' along to snack on the tasty grubs my digging has unearthed.

That's been going on for about a year now. Perhaps another good sign, or a good coincidence at any rate.

    Lardi,

Once again this is the truth, the Robin is not being sociable but as you say it is looking for easy food. The Robin looks on gardeners in the same way as they do pigs, a useful machine to turn over the ground for them <ok>… I heard it on TV somewhere

Who cares what they think of gardeners? It's part of our tradition. Should we lose it I will strike down upon someone with great fury and anger.

    When the red red robin….

Robins are my greatest friends. They are true survivors and the most loyal of all our birds. Once they know you will feed them, they will sing to you and for you forever more.

The Blackbird is the Pavarotti to the robin's Cliff Richard.

 The robin is the maestro of the skies. Just ask William Cowper.

No offense to the robin, who is a super little chap, and Britain's national bird to boot.
