Saying that, most of the players we've signed since McCann joined us have worked with him before. He definitely has a say in who we sign, or at least he did last season.

Nothing much in Swann's comments really. If you employ a head of recruitment which is Darnborough's role, of course he is v involved in recruitment but as per comment above it cant be coincidence we've signed players McCann has worked with before. For what it's worth, thought all 3 new signings today showed promise.

If McCann isn't picking the transfers, then it's a huge coincidence that nearly all of his signings last season had played for him at some point.

Isn’t the one “signing”...

Doesn’t meant he isn’t picking.

Most managers identify a few players and leave it to others to try and sign one.
It’s normal to work on a position and have a few possibles. Who gets bought then comes down to what the signing team can afford or tempt.

I said in the recruitment last year it shows a manager who lacks a little confidence to only sign players he knows. There’s always a bit of that. Clough with McGovern springs to mind but it was all of them.
Suppose we have to pray to god he’s learning he just doesn’t inspire confidence.

I agree, I can’t imagine he has many contacts in the game either, given his experience.

Well... who else will it be?

I hope that this is the last comparison we see on here between Brian Clough and McCan't.
