What is it , this fixation with records ? I have nothing against Wayne , but the media is making too much of the fact that he has scored more goals for England than anyone else. How can his efforts be compared with for example , Bobby's ? It is not worth the time to have to delve into all the data for analysis to try and prove something. As with all players , past and present , and in any position , they have to depend on the other players in their team. Bobby and Wayne depended/depend on different players. Then there is the little matter of the opposition. There are many factors involved that make a fair comparison of total goals scored impossible. So why bang on about it. The same can be said of that other record item all over the news. How would Madge have fared in QE1's place ?
