Brendan Rodgers reckons his Liverpool side need to take 23 of the 30 points available in their last 10 games to produce a miraculous top four finish.

The Reds were so far behind at Christmas they required snookers, but now even second place doesn’t look a fanciful target for the Premier League’s form team - still unbeaten in the top flight in 2015.

But while Rodgers has urged his side to go and prove last season’s title challenge was no fluke, he insisted there would be no place for sentiment when it comes to the return of skipper Steven Gerrard for the last leg of the Champions League race.

“We have 30 points to play for, so I am guessing it will be another 23 points,” said Rodgers of the challenge he has given his side.

“That is how competitive it has been this year. We have won nine out of 11 in January and February, it has been a great run but now we have to be focused on these last 10 matches. Everything counts.

he's just said 7-2-1 = 23 points... we have to play cheslea and arsenal away and utd at home yet... now i think its unreasonble to say he's conceding anything.

yes it'd be better to say we will take each game as it comes at this point but he did not... so I don't see what he said as being harmful either.

 

Come April things are going to be clearer when games are running out.

 

games are really running out now but yes until theres only 4/5 games left nobody within 3 points is truly out of it.

All english clubs who qualified for europe last season should be banned from next seasons european competitions due to how incredibly **** you all were.
