We have won a Sky Sports award!

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11096/7373832/Signing-of-the-year

It is really nice to see a Newcastle player receiving some recognition and although to us it is common sense that he is the signing of the year, not just for us but for West Ham to, it is still nice to see someone from a neutral perspective saying that he is the signing of the year. When you consider that we got this lad for free...it makes you think that he could well be one of the buys of the past 10 years, especially if he carry's on banging them in for fun.

I completely misread what you had put and thought it was going to be Nolan <laugh> but woo! I would half expect Sky to choose De Gea or Bellamy or something...

Very good read, I think we are the masters of the bargain. Ba, Tiote, Cabaye, Santon and Ben Arfa for an accumulated fee of around 17 mil, no other club will find better value for money!

  7. The 4-4 should have won it. The 6-1 wasn't a good game, it was rape on day time TV. The 4-4 was a tale of two halves and an amazing game.

A worthy winner and totally agree with him getting the award. Not sure how you mags would have done this season without his goals.

What are your feelings about that, if he was out for say a month or six weeks, how do you think you would cope?

Agree and disagree with you here. The 6-1 was a very good entertaining game and the reason it is game of the year is probably more to do with the shock factor and the fact that it was the power shift in Manchester. However I agree that for pure entertainment and amazement...the game of the year has to be the 4-4 draw, but I can see why the 6-1 got it.

We will find out when he goes to the ACN. But I think we will be fine <cheers>

  11. I hate it when people say things like this mate. How would we have coped without his goals? I don't know, but it's not as if we would have started the season without a new striker, so maybe the alternative to Ba may have scored a similar amount. Who knows?

How would we cope without Krul? How would we cope without Cabaye?

Anyway, as to how we'll cope without Ba, I think we may get a bit frustrated at times, and dominate games without scoring. But to be honest we did that vs Swansea.

Leon Best, Shola and others in the squad are all capable of scoring. Ba plays for Senegal, who aren't an amazing team, so hopefully he'll be back soon enough.

Didn't mean to hack you off fella.
Maybe I could have changed the wording. Having signed Ba and his goals did not flow as they have, what would the difference be?

I forget about the African Nations thing coming up soon so I think my question may be answered when that happens.

You are quite fortunate I believe...you don't have any African players? We lose Ba and Tiote, so it could be a horrible time for us!

Correct. Don't think we have ever had one which I probably why I didn't give the ANC a thought. I would hate to have a star player whisked away for a mickey mouse tournament.

I think they are changing it now and the tournament is in the summer of 2013 for the next one after this. I may be wrong though.

Don't worry about it, it's just Tash, he hasn't had his Cheerios this morning. Ba will get us goals and hopefully we'll have a new striker in when the transfer window opens who can fill the void while Demba's off at ACoN. That being said hopefully Senegal will have a crap tournament and he'll be back in a couple of weeks.

You had Youseff Safri the last time you were in the premier league. It is a joke of a tournament though as far as timing goes!!!
