Recession and crowd numbers?

Just wondering will this bloody double whamy of a recession if it will affect attendances .

Only asking as my uncle who is in his late 40`s has always been a staunch City fanatic along with my dad but he is in the building game and it seems this government is trying to completely ruin him and many like him .He has just now hit rock bottom and tried to sign on the unemployment farce and as he explains if you have worked all your life hard and self employed they are making it so bloody hard to get a penny from the system when he and his family needs it most .


He has recived enuff letters from the social services to wipe out half of the congo and all red tape and anything to make it as hard as possible to get help ,the best joke is that they are cutting peoples benifits to get them back to work and the people running the job centers are tellling them there is NO work!!! WTF is going on .

Stop the wave of eastern europeans getting everything given to them on a plate and lets look after own own first , not facist but bloody common sense.

Soz but JH had to have a rant as at the moment this country stinks!!!!

with attendances i think they stay relatively constant, £300-400 is not alot of money to most families i know, if you get teams like swansea increasing prices because they can thats different. our tickets are very affordable and well done to the club for that.....

as for jobs etc, you cant stop immigrants from the EU as they have freedom of movement. by and large they dont expect anything on a plate they work hard for their money..

i know builders and tradesmen are having a tough time at the moment but they were laughing in the housing boom, sky high prices they were charging back then....

JH, just to start by saying this is just a general statement and nothing directly against your OP. Btw, I've no idea how the self-employed-unemployed process works


Part of the problem, imo, is that "our own" would rather sit around complaining about Eastern Europeans taking their jobs than get off their arse and get these jobs themselves. There are plenty of jobs out there and if you dont want one yourself, dont complain when someone else takes it. From my experience of being around Job Centres, a lot depends on the individual advisor. Most just 'tick the box' but there are those who are human and do care and give the correct information as opposed to the minimum requirement.

As for 'cutting peoples benefits to get them back to work', I'm unaware of any cuts, in fact a lot of private training companies are offering accredited courses/qualifications free of charge for the purpose of re-employment and the money actually goes up rather than be cut. Theyl also actively search for vacancies in whatever field for the person while the course is in progress.
Personally, I've completed 3 over the past 9 months to add to my existing training/teaching qualifactions, all free of charge (to me anyway ) and I'm 12 weeks short of completing the full required set of qualifications... go me!

Its all out there, people just need to get off their arses and go and get it because it wont come to you. I know it can be red-tape frustrating at times but it is achievable.

"Our own " are down the jobcentre every day and no jobs as i have first hand experience witnessing it with my uncle ,wasted tradesmen and not all are idle!!!!.

680 people applied for a train cleaners position in Cardiff two weeks ago for just one position,makes you think ?

Well try this for size .

Met landlord today about our blocked loo(yet again) got into talking about the work shortage of british tradesmen ........he told me the one of the other houses he rents out has an asyum seekers in and the boiler was faulty so he called British gas into fix it ,on asking if he should leave it on hot or cold he got this reply ..............It dose not matter mate as we pay the bill (ie British Gas ) plus the electric and water and she recives £120 a week benifit !!!!, he gets home at night and thinks WTF is going on as this is not a rare thing .

Have to say John that I agree with you 100%, the country's gone mad. We look after foreigners better than our own.
Like you guys rightly say there's nothing wrong with someone coming here willing to work but in the vast majority if cases that isn't the case. Illegal immigrants weekly allowance is double that of the old age pension. It's beyond belief, people who shouldn't be here get more than pensioners and people who have fought in wars for us.

I have to take issue with you there, 'vast majority'? I think not. If this was true there would be evidence to prove it but there isn't any. Most immigrants are caught between a rock and a hard place, either people criticize them for being on benefits or for stealing jobs, they can't win!

Secondly illegal immigrants are entitled to nothing from the state, Being illegal means the state does not know they are here. Many are forced to work in slave like conditions for a pittance by gangland criminals, not a nice existence i imagine.

i read a while back that asylum seekers get something like £30 / week, may have gone up since.. i suppose its £30 more than they have paid into the system but while they are asylum seekers does that mean they cant officially get work? often people camp in calais waiting to go to britain having gone through many countries to get here though.

as for pensions and treatment of people who have paid taxes all their lives, its not racist to believe that far more money should be diverted towards the elderley etc than 'foreign' people.. trouble is politicians are too scared to do anything about it.

This is a hard one and I agree about not letting people starve.

The problem I have is that many asylum seekers have illegally travelled right thro' Europe. If they were fleeing persecution they should under law seek asylum from the 1st friendly country they get to.

They think that the UK is an easy touch

the rich men get to pick and choose and leave the rest of us to scramble over the scraps. Much better for them for us to blame Tom Dick or Harry and leave the corrupt system in place.
