Any owner who asks a team to change something as radical as their shirt colour and therefore their nickname doesn't understand football. However, money talks. Blue and white stripes anyone<laugh>

    Hello gorgeous Meg :)

Although I wouldn't ever want this to happen to saints (imagine playing in blue) I think if the owners are going to show considerable backing and along with the promise of Premier League football to come then they may go for this.

I am not sure they need to change kits and stuff though but it is interesting.

If someone said to me 2 years ago you have to wear pink shirts, shorts, socks and dye your hair the same colour to be in the Premier League at the end I would.<laugh>

More foreign owners ignoring tradition. Cardiff are blue, everybody knows that. Even the Rugby team are called the 'Cardiff Blues'.

Shanghai Shenhua are a massive brand in China now Anelka has signed and become First Team Manager too so this move doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Plus the new stadium has all blue seats, are they going to rip them all out and change them? Nonsical.

So you'd have the Saints sell their soul just to get back to the golden league, right?
Shame on you, we don't need to do that, cream shall always rise......

That certainly doesn't compute. If you're taking history and that into account, which by having Man U ahead of Man City you obviously are, how can Southampton be ahead of Pompey?!

Cardiff should change their sponsor to Coke or something, since they've plenty of bottling experience!

When I read this story earlier I began to think it was April 1st!.."Red is a more dynamic color for advertising in Asia.." Advertising what exactly?! Maybe it would be best to do things gradually, like red/blue stripes for a while, lull people in to thinking they're the welsh Barca.

It begs an interesting question, as it must have occurred to various people in their time as football fans, that there would be a best colour to play in to be as effective as possible on the pitch. We all know, from first hand experience, that grey shirts are supposed to be a poor choice of colours to play in. So what is the ideal colour..? Are red and white stripes the best colour, or do they confuse the eye..? Is a plain, simple strip, of all one colour the best, or a busy looking one better..? There must be some data on this..?

Maybe it's something to do with red symbolising luck in Asia? At least in china I think it does anyway...And as for confusing colours, I remember a few years back chelsea defending their goalkeeper kit of flourescent orange as it was supposedly the colour that would most distract opposition forward players
