Is there actually any viable reason?

We can't win anything at all, and while we could potentially get relegated, that potential prospect isn't really something to turn up to watch, is it?

Please select from the poll options your thoughts!

Support the team through thick and thin? And thinner? And really really skinny? Or the club equivalent of a small malnourished african child?

I don't get to games very often, but when I do I like to observe how players perform on an individual basis and develop. Despite this being an indifferent season, its been good in the sense that youth players have burst through, which has held my interest in this otherwise **** show.

Why though? That says brainless loyalty.

Don't get me wrong, I love brainless loyalty as much as the next chap, but "supporting the club" through this particular thin is actually, rather evidently, counter-productive. Just shows Ashley he can further tear the team up anyway he wants <ok>

I've seen much worse times and that never stopped me. Change eventually comes. Fans have never actually had much impact on that. Certainly not now when his income comes from so many areas.

Well if Whitey says that 100 fans booing got Sir Bob sacked, a whole empty stadium might soon change Ashley's tune <whistle>

I've seen this argument a lot, that fans account for minimal profits at a football club and thus can be discounted... Thus turning up in effective support can be legitimized. It's backwards logic at best. Whatever revenue streams he has, this is singularly not true. He'll get a lot from Sky, a lot more than from fans, obviously, but the reputational damage of an empty stadium is enormous. Sponsors won't like it (stadium, shirt, TV etc), and they account for a significant wack, and a whole stream of detrimental consequences follow to his main business empire.

Imagine the French revolution if you'd been there... "Oh don't worry lads, this oppression will change one day, let's just wait it out"...

I'm not saying you're wrong, or saying you don't have a right to believe that's best, but I don't think you can have that argument and expect it to stand up to scrutiny!

He'll go like all the others and I don't believe for a second it'll be before HE chooses. These arrogant ****ers don't care. Its never their club regardless. **** him.

If you are starting to believe Whiteys ****e then seek professional help...

And you'd never see me in the French revolution, all that garlic, pongy (please don't drag me into a debate about the French revolution, one of my favourite historical subjects, its Saturday, day of chill)

Absolutely, he won't go if fans don't turn up. That's not the aim though. Arrogant ****s are unreasonable, so you don't reason with them, you take action, and they are forced to amend their behaviour. Action has been so long overdue by supporters, it's ridiculous. Calling him nasty names while handing over £35 for the privilege of doing so is just laughable.

If he started sanctioning a few deals to make turning up to games worthwhile, like the club actually had some sort of future beyond that of being a feeder club to Arsenal etc, I think that's all we want right now.

Sports DIrect, £2.7bn revenue, £240m profits. SD has profits three times the size of NUFC's revenues.... NUFC could play on the Town Moor for all Ashley's interested.

Mike Ashley is just content to own Newcastle, then, rather than use it as advertising source for this empire? It's of zero benefit to him, at the very least, having an empty stadium, whereas having a full house furthers his cause...

It's nonsense logic to say that just because fan revenue is small, that it's irrelevant whether people turn up. The fans are the reason the "club" exists, without them it's just a team and a stadium. If everyone stopped going, he'd either continue to have desolate games and a backlash which damages his financial empire, or he'd spend a bit of the club's money (doesn't even need to be his own separate wealth, seeing as every asset we've sold has been for large profit without replacement) on some bloody players so the crowds come back and drive his sales up again.

Some people are mistaking this two way road for a one-way street. There's one of him, and a ****ing hell of a lot of us <ok>

I'm not saying, categorically, you're wrong or I'm right. But even his behaviour suggests he would thumb his nose at anyone trying to oppose his regime. He's just the kind of guy who would sooner write off the whole venture in the Championship than bow to fan power. Thing is, though, it's a completely moot point. He won't allow the club to be relegated, if he can help it, and the fans (or someone) will never stop going.

In the end, i'm of the opinion that football itself will die on its'' arse a bit, Italian style, once the glamour wears too thin and the only people interested are those without the money or loyalty to keep going. It's sadly probably around this time that Mike will up sticks - you are of course right that hes only in this for advertising. As I've said before, in every walk of life advertising costs a lot of money - except football. In football, Sky/BT PAY HIM £50m+ to broadcast your products to a billion people. Strange, but Ashley loves it.

I didn't vote for anything in the poll.
I have many reasons for going, the main one being because 'I Can Go' and will for as long as I'm able, Premier League, Championship whatever....

The PL will die within the next 15 years. Investors will go elsewhere once the next major league kicks in. Serie A was the place once, PL currently. It's like everything - a cycle. Ashley? He will go once the club ceases to benefit him, or he finds something else that offers something better for him.
