Just wanted your guys opinion on why harry was sacked. Do you think it was prompted by the england saga or based on his failure to guarantee cl football. I feel the latter reason will be unfair as he did achieve fourth place and did reasonably well on a limited budget, something even as an arsenal fan I did admire. Had it been the former reason I think it would have had more to do with levy's personal pride as you will be hard pushed to find a better replacement. It could however be a combination of both or levy may have what he deems a more suitable replacement in mind for spurs long term future.
Redknapp's comments in the media about various things won't have helped, his open desire to take another job will have damaged him, too. The thing that pushed him over the edge was the contract though, for me. He brought in Paul Stretford to negotiate and I don't think that went down well with the chairman.
That's a good point actually. I think he felt he simply was unsackable and brought him in as an aggressive move to force the contract to be in his favour. He couldn't have been more wrong but fairplay I think he's reacted well to it, albeit in a very "Harry" kind of way.
I don't think this can be said enough. It speaks well of the man that he has been so positive and supportive of the club since being dismissed. Of course that could be because they know some dark secret about him, but I hope it is his genuine feeling for the club.
Paul Stretfords inclusion in proceedings was probably to keep things on a professional basis and deal with a 'neutral' 3rd party, I think i read somewhere Jamie was involved in those things on Harry's behalf, it might have been as I said, not to conduct such a meeting on this occasion with his son. I don't think its for the other reasons held here. If Levy and Redknapp were at loggerheads as seems to be the case, it would make sense to do it.
Redknapp has said that his sacking was inevitable, and that it would have happened no matter where we finished. Therefore, this leads me to believe that there were other reasons for his dismissal.
I read that as "inevitable regardless of whether chelsea won the champs league or not". Eg, he would've been sacked even if we'd qualified due to the piss-poor-run (tm)
I wonder if Joe Jordan is awaiting a call? Would he make a good manager? He could at least put Wenger over his knee if Wenger got stroppy........
