Anyone else notice a really flat dull atmosphere at today's game. I know the football wasn't the greatest but it's the worst atmosphere at St Mary's I been to for ages. The last few years our atmosphere's have been great lots of singing and chanting, however today no songs never got going they just cut out. I think the players did great to get the second goal because we weren't really encouraging them with loud songs and chants. We need to sort it out!!! Let's create massive atmosphere's for the players in the run in to the end of season promotion!!!!!!!!

Also noted this , very dim at times - although the negative football in the first half didn't help.

Tw*ts in the Northam getting on the team's back as soon as things go a little bit in Swindon's favour. Moaning, groaning whenever ONE f*cking pass goes astray. Our fans really are awful sometimes. Everyone seems to expect us to dominate the whole match. How many times have teams done that??? Even Barcelona or Real Madrid don't do that. At times the atmosphere was good, but I wish that our fans would stop being so expectant.

I think the reaction was a bit O.T.T at times , and I'm as guilty of that as anyone else but the goal we conceded was woeful.

Anyway , there are many more grounds up and down the country that have a worst atmosphere than us , come the days when we sell out week in week out in the Premier League , the atmosphere under the lights should be great.

I'd rather passionate season ticket holders who are willing to watch the team now than the plastics back in the top league who are more interested in seeing the opposition players like Rooney etc then our own.

Exactly, we jumped on the players back way too easily. I thought the players did superb to score again because there was no encouragement from our fans. We are called the supporters but today we did little support.

Might help the atmosphere if all the "lads" turned up for the match in time for kick off, then didn't sod off after 38 minutes to the concourse then came back in time for the 2nd half and then stayed to very end of the match.

Just saying. Seems some "lads" only see about an hour of a 90 minute game. But I appreciate to be a "lad" these days means you have to appear to be a heavy drinker.

Does piss me off that some people spend more time below in the concourse than watching the actual game , the drinking should be left for before and after the game.

Pisses me off even more when half the stadium leaves 5 minutes early at 3-1, with our fans singing cheerio to the Swindon ones.

We were in the back row of Northam (only place for 3 to fit) - and they were bladdered, one guy almost started a fight. Yelling "*InsertName* Give us a wave!" (he went through all the players then moved onto stewards, police and '*****') A group of lads ambled up and stood behind their friend on their friends seats, whilst smoking and drinking. One bloke passed us 5 times for beer, ridiculous.

Have it before and after, how people can complain about players not giving their all for the team when they amble off for beer is highly hypocritical.

Totally agree SFCbwSFC and Saint Harry. I know some people have to leave early for various reasons, but that exodus today was just the usual suspects off to get a good place at the bar. I don't know why some people bother to go at all!

And singing 'cheerio' as you leave early yourself has got to be the height of stupidity <doh> unless they were just being ironic of course

Very dreary atmosphere today... Absolutely ecstatic after we scored our second.

Full credit to Swindon for their excellent support, until we scored our third anyway ;)

I don't here that STFC WUM from 606 bragging now :D

I have sat down the Northam/Kingsland end for cup games and the like. We Sat the last time was to one side of the exit. Although we stayed there for the whole game I doubt if we actually saw more than 20 minutes of each half!!!!!!! We even asked the Stewards if they could do anything about it we were so frustrated. There was a constant stream of people back and forth to the bar/toilet or what ever so much so we were doing aerobics just to see what we could of the match. Yet these same people come out and criticise the team when the have only seen less that fifty percent of the match. Needless to say that is one area I do not want to sit again.

People have a right to go the bar and leave for whatever reason...but the atmosphere seemed nervous probably because Swindon have been our bogey team and it looked like that maybe the case till we got our 2nd & 3rd goals.

Thought the atmosphere at the Carlisle game was very subdued despite the attendance being high. I know the football wasn't great, but not sure I can remember so many people making so little noise.

Hey come on now, there aren't any set rules about how you support the team, as long as you keep within the Ground Regulations, you find your enjoyment in whichever way you want to, just as long as you support Southampton. The more success we get, the better the support will be, there are far too many negative waves at the moment, even when we win, its moan, moan, moan and criticism of individual players that you don't actually like irrespective of whether the do well or not. That kind of attitude doesn't deserve success.
Can I just add my congratulations to the Ground Staff, the pitch was really excellent considering the recent weather, if we can do it, surely other clubs can learn how to get it right, then we wouldn't have to struggle on a pudding.

I'm moaning not at the players, who I thought did so well to score as at that time in the game the saints fans were giving so much much negative support!!! The players did excellent to reply. I think we as supporters jump on the players backs too easily and we need to encourage more whatever the scoreline or how badly we are playing.
We need to push them onto promotion which we will!!!!!!!! COYR

Its great we all moan at the atmosphere - but ask yourselves who has to create it

    * THE FANS - whether you win , lose or draw ...You should alway be vocal and get behind the team for 90 mins!

    * THE TEAM - Yep 11 players hold a portion of creating the atmopshere but they still need us to give them support.

It's easy enough saying it was poor atmosphere , but if you sat there and done sod all about it and moaned then you only have yourslf to blame.(I question some people's understanding of the word 'supporter')

IMO - Disagree with the 'crap atmosphere' ...bit OTT
