Hess : "It was over the season, not just about today. It's about consistency. The early part of the season was disjointed, half the squad was in the stand." What worries me is that he seems to think its all down to the bad start. its disconcerting that he seems to think we finished the season ok. He doesn't seem to acknowledge that not managing to win a single one of our last four home games against poor opposition ( opposition who have between them been beaten 42 times on their travels this season) is, the reason we didnââ¬â¢t make the play offs, and cats questions over the quaility of the team. I hope Hessââ¬â¢s comments are just to put a public positive spin on things and behind the scenes he has already started to identify new players, and is ready to impose a new style , a hess style that we will begin to adopt next season. But if there are limited new faces and we are still playing hoof ball a couple of months into next season iââ¬â¢ll begin to fear the worst.
It's a good point. End of season form nowhere near good enough. I suspect if you look at our leagyue placing based on games played before/after January 2nd (i.e. after the 5 consecutive victories), the league placings would be very similar! It's also easy to forget that we won VERY FEW of those 16 unbeaten games!
Yes, I think weââ¬â¢d be about 9th- ie missing out. Just Going on the last ten games we are 8th I think. So not a good end to the season. Interestingly Port vale on missing out have come out saying they need an overhaul. Looks like they are facing up to their deficiencies. I hope Hess has a plan. As this team ( at home at least) played some great football in league 1 so its not because player limitations that we have been playing hoof Ball this year in league 2.
They really let us down at the first 3rd of the season then the last 5 or 6 games of the end of the season.
Started to play better when the weather turned cold, started to drop off when the weather warmed up again, clearly the lads don't like sunshine.
Interesting point grumpy. Playing in the sun fitness issues? I must say I thought they all looked knackered in the sunshine at home to Barnet.
