Going on the last four prem games Game 4 - Well beaten by the Champions elect on their turf, we werenât embarrassed at all, no disgrace there. Game 5 - Drew with a resurgent Sunderland side tamping for the fight. They've lost one game all season and are certainly not the push overs of last year. However, imo, their performance was ably assisted by a chump with a whistle, who gave them free reign to kick us off the park, while punishing us for inconsequential challenges. No disgrace there either. Game 6 - Mugged by a Southampton as another chump with a whistle held our arms behind our back and let them get on with it. Although a very frustrating game there was again, no disgrace. Game 7 - Played like pansies and got what we deserved, hanky slapped, twice. Our naivety in handling our total dominance earned a measly point and gave away two. In that game we were pathetic and most definitely a disgrace. However, if we add the above performances to the 3 deserved victories not mentioned then, Newcastle apart, we've performed well, far better than expected, I suggest. Because of our overall performances and our potential to improve I simply can't buy into the aimless derision and blind despair that some easily fall into on our forum. Imo, the current reality suggests the truth which is, like it or not, we are a deserved 5th in the premier league; a fact not a fluke, with room for improvement to come from a squad bursting with potential. That's how I see it, however I also see that we are far better than many on our forum see us, or want us to be, but the facts do speak for themselves and its nothing to do with whatever camp we find ourselves. Simply playback the games we've played, open your mind and see our potential. My personal Swanseaverse is one of happy days with more to come, its good living here See you in a week/10 days my Jackbro's, its a short hop there and back again for me.
Game 6 - played with a man down for 55 minutes, defence were knackered and Monk brings on Emnes and not a defender, I think siggy was replaced Game 7 - 2-1 up, 3 subs available, they equalize and Monk waits until the 86th minute to bring on Montero and Emnes that is madness, who is advising Monk re the subs this is not Monk bashing as I think he has his starting 11 right but he seems to have no clue how to use his subs
Cant see any problem myself....We are 5th in the league...Terms of "we should have done that" or "If we did that" "This player should have played and that player shouldn't have" dont wash as nobody can say what would have happened. This is football where there is no way of knowing before the match who is going to win, lose or draw, anything can happen and monk is the one who gets paid to do the job and as far as i can see being 5th in the premiership then he is doing a good job...
We weren't a disgrace in Game 7. We had to two shocking lapses in defence but Newcastle certainly went home wondering how they found a bit of luck to walk away with a point. Two bad plays doesn't make a disgraceful performance, we dominated and Newcastle were the poor team.
Being 5th in the league at this point means jack **** I'm afraid but hi ho better than being bottom and points adrift wouldn't you agree Dai ?
"Terms of "we should have done that" or "If we did that" "This player should have played and that player shouldn't have" dont wash as nobody can say what would have happened. This is football where there is no way of knowing before the match who is going to win, lose or draw, anything can happen" Said it before and I'll say it again....how on earth does this belief (if genuine) square with your mercilless lampooning of our former Manager? Not a licence to do so again btw. If "anything can happen" and "there is no way of knowing" and "nobody can say what would have happened' I'm just curious how you square those multiple circles.
Very good post Stumpy and how I see things this season, looking forward to our squad going up a gear once they click, we are good for our 5th position............
next 3 games will tell, Stoke away I will take a point, beat Leicester at home then 1 point against Everton, would like 9 points but 5 would be ok
Not knocking Stumpy for the post at all but it's all ifs and buts really. Every club gets its fair share of bad luck, good luck and poor referees. We are where we are - 8 points off the top, 7 off the bottom. It could also be said that Sunderland should have won their game by two goals at least and that the Toon should have nicked it at the end. Comes down to whether you're a glass half full or half empty person I guess.
being 5th in the league is better than being 6th and shows we are doing a good job so far, would you not agree..
very easy question to answer....the type of football we were playing. the amount of losses we were accumulating, the league position getting worst every week, the atmosphere in the dressing room where players were arguing among themselves, the amount of complaints at jinx's door, the atmosphere at games...etc etc etc need i go on..
But there was nothing Laudrup could have done. Because 1: ""Terms of "we should have done that" or "If we did that" "This player should have played and that player shouldn't have" dont wash as nobody can say what would have happened." and 2: "This is football where there is no way of knowing before the match who is going to win, lose or draw, anything can happen" Hope you see the contradiction.
