So perhaps we can enjoy the rest of the season without getting to carried away at least it will quieten down the one eyed fans who chanted we are going up on Sat. Dissapointing that we were unable to keep a clean sheet for the full 90 or keep the run going with a win. Mcghee has been trying to hold back any talk of promo and recognises the deficiences in the side (as we do)that Chuckle spent a lot of money assembling. He needs to bring in some quality players in most areas but without money its the loan market until next season. So who would you retain on the books and shift out to pastures new in the summer and who should we get to replace them Goalkeepers1 Bevan 20 Poke 25 Cronin Billson-Page . Defenders 2 Smith 3 Sawyer 4 Woodards 5 Bolger 37 T Parkes 14 Brown 15 Anthony 19 Virgo 24 Kite 33 Downes .J Paterson Midfielders 6 Stanley 8 Gill 17 Paterson 21 Brown 23 Lund 24 Clarke 29 Jeffries 34 Fraser 34 Dorman . Forwards 9 Harrold 10 McGleish 11 Carayol 16 Anyinsah 18 Richards 26 Zebroski . Additional Players 27 McLaggon 28 Powell 27 McKenna 31 Hunter 33 Norburn 35 Goddard A Downes...... So Oxford on the weekend as Mcghee said its time to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in it will be a toughie. COR
If we get rid of to many players then we will have to replace them all and we will be back to square one with new team needing to gel, we probabaly won't have Bolger, downs and parkes next season so we will need at least to or three CB, we need to bring a couple of CM and most of all a couple of strikers. But that said I think Bevan, Cronin, Smith, Stanley, Zebroski are the one's I would ship out.
Agree that to many out leaves a big rebuild. Depending on there contracts you will probably see Mcgleish (viewed by Mcghee as an impact player)and Zebroski go. Bolger may end up staying however he needs a senior decision making pro alongside him to help him grow into the position. Brown (21) will end up going and L Brown (14) does not offer much cover in defence....good going forward. Anthony will also depart along with Bevan unless he stays as number 2 COR
Maybe Lee Brown should be converted to a left winger then either patterson (if he stays) or sawyer could go left back.
As long as he provides cover for Sawyer or Paterson who looks a good loan player The other way of looking at it is play paterson and Sawyer on the left?
we need another striker to fill the void left by kuffour. Mcgleish is 38? now and we can't rely on him running up and down the pitch to get us goals. We have Zebs, anyinsah and muzzy who have more or less been playing wide as with Richards so we need to make our minds up on who plays where. I would like to see Zebs upfront with either richards or Harrold partnered along side him with maybe muzzy and anyinsah on the wings. (depending on their form/fitness) L.brown I would like to see in a more LWB with woodards the other side. and if we can make Bolger's move permanent I would like to see him partnered with Downes next season. Where as centre-mid I think we have very good players at the club in Gill, stanley and wayne brown. In goal I would prefer Poke here next season and bevan as back up but whether bevan would want to be 2nd choice after his success at Torquay remains to seen. easy...
woodards is probably the stand out player from the current crop so far this season, not sure about Stanley as he is slow for a midfield player however he works real hard and performs the dirty stuff,Wayne Brown blows hot and cold assume his contract runs out at the end of this season so I can see him going as he has not had any chance to showcase his talents to the new manager. .Downes and Bolger could work. Mcghee will want to press for promo next season he may go into the market for another defender as we need back up in this area. Muzzy and As will only work if we get the centre midfield and defence right,as they leave us wide open at the back, great going forward would keep both but only play 1 at a time if you notice our form has improved when we only have one in the outfield. Mcgleish offers experience and a change of the line of attack, agree he does not have the pace to get behind most defences like Richards, and another season on will see him lose more speed. COR
Lee Brown has been my stand out player this season considering he hadn't even played league football before he came to us plus he's a goal machine.
Yeh but no but................. he cant tackle to save his life which is the first requirement of a defender. GHS79 You watch him on Sat he lets others clean up for him runs around a lot. COR
