Realistic strikers I would like to get in the summer

After watching the game yesterday and witnessing our attacking options go to nothing I was thinking about exactly which forward I would like us to realistically go for in the summer.

2 names, both I feel we would have a chance at (not this nonsense Hulk from Porto business) are Peter Odemwinge and Carlton Cole. I think we could get both for around the £15m mark based on West Ham going down and Odemwingie being 29. I would see them being about £8m for Cole if they go down and £7m for Odemwingie due to his age.

They are not top top drawer players but they are both top half class players and I think they would represent progress. I think the pair of them would bring a good mix of attacking options with their mix of Cole's physically and quick feet for a beast and Odemwingie's hollow bones speed and natural finishing abillity (Bent was obviously a better player but I see Odemwingie in a similar mould).

As proved with the increase in Bent's profile when he joined us I also think we would do wonders for the career of Daniel Sturridge who would get a game each week (who I actually wanted us to sign when we lost Jones). I'm not sure how realistic he is though and I think he would cost all of £20m.

I also think the emergence of Hernandez (who I think will be the top striker in the country within two years) at United will see us get Welbeck for another season.

We have to have enough money left over for a leftback, left winger, and a creative midfielder or a top class centre back. Chris Samba anyone?

    Just my thoughs............. anyone else?

p.s. N'Zogbia did look handy yesterday didnt he. I loved the brown nosing 'come and join us' ovation from our fans when he went off.

out of all the one's you have mentioned, i personally would only be in favour of sturridge, and maybe samba, but they are most likely the two we wouldn't get.

I liked the Brucie sign him up haha.

As for Cole and Odemwengie, No too odemwengie, if we are looking for a target man, its not him and you never know what you will get from carlton cole, I would rather have Zamora than cole but cole can be great or terrible, abit like jones.

I like Rodellega, a lot, i'd be looking at him and Zog for sure when wigan drop.

Now, Gignac is off the cards now, Marseille won't contemplate a sale after the form he's hit, so the target man is a very, very tricky one.

I feel we may have another look at Pav, not a real target man, but has some presence in the air at least

Aye, but his movement is very, very good, and he'd create space for Gyan.

    I'd rather have 2 15 goal a season lads than 1 30, that's what these 2 would give.

I think we should look at Danny Graham, Cest mentioned him, i reckon he could make the step up, 27 or so for mid table Watford, and the last striker we signed from Watford worked out canny eh?

We'd get him for next to nowt, in the grand scheme, and he's a north east lad.

Seems to score all kinds of goals, and surely deserves a punt at the Prem.

I reckon someone will take a chance on him, why not us?

Neither for me and as much as I'd like to see Sturridge in a Sunderland shirt I can't see us having a hope in hells chance of him wanting to sign for us. I also think Rodellega and N'Zogbia are vastly over rated as is the lanky Russian at Spurs. Zamora could do a good job for us but as has already been said he's a bit like Jones, bloody good or bloody awful, however, I don't see Hughes allowing him to leave. I'd be tempted by the ex Stoke and now Villa reserve Carerra (sorry can't remember the name I'm afraid it's another senior moment) He's not the final answer but I think he would give us a little breathing space and allow Bruce to introduce young Noble for 15/20 minutes per game if things are going OK so that there is not too much pressure on the kid. He may also provide the knock ons for Gyan to pick up.

Cole, Rodellega, Odemwingie, are not 'next level' strikers, Sturridge is but as the Op says 'realistic' I doubt he would leave either Chelsea or Bolton to come to us, shame cos i think he'd be a perfect partner for Gyan.

All those mentioned will not take us anywhere nearer that elusive step up to being a top 8 possibly Europa team. I'm not sure who we should be looking at Samba is a good player but, will he take us forward? I do think he'd definitely improve us.
As for redfenders idea can't comment as I've never seen the lad but if he is a Stoke and now Villa reserve it doesn't sound good, I do agree with bleeding in Noble though and that should start now especially with our frontline crocked.

Got to give noble a chance last 4 games. No pressure now and he will bust a gut to impress.

Make offer for permanent transfer of D.Welbeck and tell SAF will NOT accept on loan again. I want Sunderland players not loanees.

Dont think clattermoles banned but if he is stick riveros in, again no pressure now and may put himself in the shop window.

I think we should try & sign Rodellega, Doyle & Graham

I dont think we will get Welbeck next season not even on loan.

I would love us to sign Ned & Elmo both have been exellent for us this season

I also think we need LB, CB, LW & CM

    LB Figroll or Warnock

CB Samba would be a great signing

    LW N`Zog

CM i would love to see Parker from West Ham

I think SB move on a few players in the summer

    Zenden
    Sulley
    Riveros
    Anton
    McCartney
    Noz
    Angeleri
    Killgallon.
