Hi all, a few of us plan on a bit of an addition to the match days next season by taking in a few olde worlde real ale bars after the game. Is there a decent real ale pub crawl to be had around Leeds?
A lot of the good old pubs have been turned into ****ing wine bars for the prosecco drinking knobheads Try the Grove near the train station, or Whitelocks in Briggate, which is the oldest pub in Leeds.
Cheers. Are there many other traditional pubs around those? I don't like the wine bar ones, it's like sitting in a shop window.
I know what you're saying mate, ****ing terrible places The Scarborough Taps is a good boozer, the Templar is good too, and The Adelphi all in the city centre you could try the Garden gate just outside of the centre in Hunslet, great old pub with original fixtures and fittings
Just had a squint on google maps. There's some walking to be done between them isn't there? I've a vague recollection of a couple of them, Scarborough taps always seems somehow echoee (if that's a word) Are most of the traditional ones going?
The Palace near the markets is a good pub, as is the Duck and Drake til a load of left wing nutjobs took over, don't go in a bar with a black door near the Duck though, you may get your arse felt by a bearded geezer in stockings and suspenders
Unfortunately yes, there is a bit of walking to the good proper pubs these days as many have been turned into soulless wine bars for the posing ****s
