The amount of chances Hull City create per game is getting on the verge of ridiculous, without anyone putting them away regularly, I have to agree with Tom Cairney that a team soon enough is going to get a real drummin' let's just hope its Leeds & Leicester!
I think the word is "drubbing" you were looking for, but we say this every season, and it never happens. This season, it's even been said by Steve Bruce I think.
It's good that they're creating the chances, but neither Koren or Simmo are out and out strikers. One of these in Jan is a must. Their link up play is good and Simmo brings the midfielders into play well, look at Meyler's goal at the weekend, as an example. Mind you, you can't have a pop at Koren's goals record of late. Quinn is good at setting them up, but i'm sure he was more prolific at the blunts.
We won't give anyone a drubbing until we get a striker in who can time runs into the correct areas in the box to get on the end of Brady and Emos superb crosses. When that happens we will really rack up the goals.
Truth! Korens goal was struck from the near post. A position avoided by Jay Simpson for the rest of the match. With the quality of crosses delivered, especially from Elmohamady's right wing, if we had a 6 yard box poacher, Saturdays result would've been close to double figures
I know it his hypothetical, but I wonder how many goals Fryatt would have had by now if he had been fit?
One of the best at meeting crosses in this league this season has been Glenn Murray at Palarse. He's got Bolassi and Zaha providing the ammo and he's scored 20 goals already.
I think we need someone like Heidar Helguson at Cardiff someone who can bully defenders in the box, Reading signed Jason Roberts last season and he was influential in them climbing up the league!
I reckon Fryatt would have been well into double figures. Once Bruce stopped him poncing around on the edge of the box facing the centre circle.
Was worried when I saw this thread. Thought this was a suggestion for us to get a drummer. Don't want any of that Leicester or Watford crap.
Murray and Helguson are indeed the perfect sort of player that we need. I really wish we could stop banging on about Fryatt though, we made chances last season and didn't score enough, there weren't enough people in the box when the ball was and we weren't a threat from set-pieces. Pretty much the same problems that are keeping our GD down this year. We're a much better attacking force this season with the players we're using now. If, at some point we can start to get men in the box at the right times so it isn't just 2 strikers against 4 defenders on every cross, we'll be amazing.
You're all wrong. The correct answer is... ∞ I shall say again what I've said all season - we're not a brilliant attacking force as we have nobody to put the ball in the back of the ****ing net! We've gone from being appalling up-front in the past 2 seasons to being average (in terms of goals scored), but the massive change since the Pearson and Barmby days has left us blinkered as to how good/bad we actually are in terms of striking options. It doesn't help that we blew our transfer budget by signing Nick Proschwitz instead of a striker / footballer / person with legs.
Hey IS,iv'e had an idea you might find useful. Why not make a thread going"FRYATT SCUFFS ALL HIS CHANCES AND MCSHANE'S ****" Then make it a sticky? Youd'e save loads of time checking all the other threads and anyone who knows exactly what your going to say could just ignore it. It's ok,you don't have to thank me
