First half of this game saw us dominate and control the football resulting in us scoring 3 goals before halftime. The passing was brilliant to watch, players playing for each other was well and truly highlighted and the enthusiasm and commitment was second to none; it was a good first half to watch. First goal saw a cross from Ayling low across the box, Bamford reacted to Klich's call and let it go through his legs, and as calm as you like Klich slotted the ball past the reading keeper. 2nd goal, it was our Maestro Pablo who belted one in off the inside of post. 3rd goal, was our Maestro again, this time with a longer shot into the top right corner, 3-0 leeds, we were on fire, and reading didn't have a bucket. We scored all 3 goals with 3 medium to long shots, said it all along we need more long shots. Halftime and I mentioned "what worries me is complacency sneaking in during second half", and it happened. The free flowing passing was fast disappearing and it certainly looked like we took our foot off pedal, and it could come back to haunt us in the last 3 to 5 games if we're not careful. Bit of a slog in second half, the rhythm had gone and it became a rugged battle between 2 teams, but, we persevered, our defence stuck to it's guns with a few heart in mouth moments, but they held Reading at bay. In patches Reading were playing good passing football and weren't giving up coming at us. We seemed to have lost our shooting boots in 2nd half, Pablo wasted a couple of opportunities to get his hat trick, if anyone deserved a hat trick it was Pablo, even in second half he was causing problems for Reading defence. We still have players who aren't on Pablos wavelength yet, or are being lazy, and they really need to step up so close to end of season. Bamford had a couple of opportunities, Alioski blazed one over bar, but their shooting boots were nowhere to be seen. All up, it was another game of 2 halves, but we held in there and collected the 3 points thanks to a great first half, but we should've had 4 to 6 goals, and goal difference may well prove to be important towards the end of season games. Sheff U on Saturday, it's going to be all out war, and the risk takers will win it. Thanks for the clips. I think my match summary (in the match day thread) is better though as I was there
We’ve had the most shots from outside the box in the championship this season. Only difference is recently a few have gone in.
In regards to shots outside the box... Completely pointless if the opposition have packed their box with defenders, it needs movement from all our attackers to create gaps and space. We worked them well and on another day both Pablo and Bamford could have scored three each, the misses looked easier to score from than the goals.
