How strong does Bony look with some sublime touches. Good to see Shelvey getting the faithful well and truly on side. He plays a great pass with the outside of his right foot to start his goal off.....now I wonder who used to do that better than all? It seems Laudrup may have a willing pupil
Shelvey looked a different player yesterday to the one we saw getting limited opportunities at Liverpool. His passing was top class it really did stand out and in a team of renowned passers too. His overall work rate was top notch too, a real box to box midfielder and I noticed that his anticipation and positional sense were spot on. The fans were right behind him too from the start. He could well turn out to be the signing of the season
I have got to say i think we will be a handful for any side this season, i can see us beating utd to be honest with you
I told you guys so, he was supposed to be the next Steven Gerrard but with a better scoring record. And as for the team, they look special this pre-season! The boys up East must be frigging crapping themselves because they look the opposite
Why shouldnt we, Mabs? We certainly seem better equipped than ever. Who knows, could 101 years be the greatest ever season?
One thing I have to say about yesterday and completely forgot about was a tackle made in the 2nd half by Ashley Williams. Anyone there will know exactly what I'm talking about. A Reading player broke in the box bearing down on goal. Ash came across flying into the tackle, took the ball cleanly and flattened the forward. He hurt himself in the process too. To a man all our fans applauded him, how often do you see a tackle get a standing ovation ? The point is that there was no holding back and he looked committed enough to me. If anyone was worried about Ash going I wouldn't be after seeing that tackle. I know Neveroff was there and I'm sure he'll agree with me on this
just watched the hghlights .... wow!!!! We have transformed from Rogers robotic, rigid short pass only style, into a team that can tip tap it around and then drill inch perfect long balls to slice the opposition open. Bony was something else. A very fluid performance all around. The odds are not going to stay this good for much longer. If you want a flutter do it now.
We looked and played like a well oiled machine. There was a fluency and rhythm to our play that wasn't quite there last season. We are playing the ball to players ON THE MOVE, whereas before we seemed to be more deliberate and static with our possession. I know Premier League opposition will be far tougher but we can only play what's there and did so superbly. Every player looked good but three particularly caught me eye. Bony looks a player doesn't he? He's strong, skilful, has a nice touch, a bit of flair and he can pick a killer pass (what a bonus). I also like that he's always looking for the shot but with his goal record we expected that. Jonjo also impressed with his drive, link up play and passing and he took his goal well. Also adds a bit of steel where we need it. Looking more and more like a great bargain and I reckon he's aiming to make Rodgers sorry he ever let him go. That'll do me nicely! Next, Pablo. He continues to get better and better. Cool finish and some of his crafty passes were really top stuff. I can see Bony and Michu filling their boots from his new found confidence. Oh, and there's a fourth. How can I leave out Michu? Competitive as ever, putting in a shift and getting his goal with a cheeky strike when others might have tried a pass in the crowded box. Shows the value of gambling with a shot - as Ellie Goulding puts it: "Anything Can Happen". All in all, very impressive so far and this squad can only get better the more they play together. Manchester United? Not getting carried away but I think we will beat them. I really do.
Nice to see someone having a shot from outside the box too, Bony was only denied after a very good palmed save Very exciting times ahead
United, City, Gunners, Spurs, 'Pool, Chelsea ..... don't look over your shoulder now but we're coming. We may not finish amongst the elite, but we will scare the **** out of them this season - home and away.
To be fair, Reading had nothing. They did pass the the ball around very tidily, but never really troubled us. What I always felt that we played well within ourselves, we upped the tempo start of the second half and got our rewards, but after that we did cruise to the end. Bony and Shelvey are fantastic buys.
Some good movement, and the goals will bring confidence ahead of Malmo, thought Reading were ball watching far too much, which means they gave us far too much respect, either that, or they were on an off day, still progress is being made and Bony and Shelvey are looking very good, and seem to have slotted in perfectly, can't wait for the season to start!................. Pieking we are coming for you!................
I gather you were there Never! seemed from the video that they gave us far too much respect, or maybe having an off day? By the way, all our mods are top draw, don't pay any attention to the Capital rabble..................
I was Phil, and I don't believe a word Dilli says about you. On the other point, all I can say is god help us all.
If you want a good laugh, Dilli's mug shoot is on the Swans web site. You can't miss him. It's the photo with Shelvey celebrating photo no 8. http://www.swanseacity.net/news/article/gallery-reading-949114.aspx
