"When you have the money but not the players it does not help you a lot," said Wenger. "The target is not to have a bank full of money but good players on the pitch. "People will never understand if you sell your best players. That would be the wrong signal to send." I echo HH's Hmmm - Amazing how agendas change over time
Not by me. Even when he was proposing that we move to Wembley (which would have been a terrible move) He always had the club's interest at the forefront. But you're right, there was a time when a lot of Arsenal fans saw him as a renegade business man and a shady wheeler dealer. I think Dein is in vogue at the moment, because people are hating Gazidis and Kronke. Personally I'd like to see them all work together at the club. But you can bet your bottom dollar that if we win something next year, suddenly Gazidis and Kronke will become Heroes.
I'm talking about a long time before there was any mention of us moving to Wembley.I think it would be fair to say there was a time when Dein was hated far more than Gazidis is now.
My earliest recollection of David Dein was seeing him at London Colney, he had a silver Porsche and his blonde daughter was with him, she must've been about 18 at the time. She was ridiculously pretty. My mate told me that Dein told the players if any of them try it on with her they would be sacked Must've been about 20 years ago now. I didn't know who he was at the time though.
I can't believe someone who is from the manor like you,is as old as you claim to be and has been a lifelong Arsenal fan did not know who Dein was 20 years ago
