I actually couldn't believe it when I was told - Unbelievable. And Rafa Benitez tipped as interim manager as well....
I wasn't going to start a thread for this, so I've already put my comments in "rival watch". i'll paste them into here too, seeing as you've started one Al EDIT: my comments from Rival watch, below. well it's official. RDM has been sacked. I just don't understand what goes on in Abramovich's head. He spends 10's of millions on some of the worlds best talent. - Mata, Oscar and Hazard in particular, who are just class. But he sacks managers on average about once a year. Does the latter not completely counteract all the money being spent, giving the team no continuity or stability? he's done it 8 times or so. does that not tell him something about the impact of his own actions? if someone could explain this, I'd appreciate it. I just don't get it.
Unbelieveable. That mad Russian ingrate is below scum. Probably - unless it turns out that RDM left for medical reasons or some such.
Didn't think to check the rival thread Roo I just don't get it either - wins their first ever CL, club legend and then gone 3 months into the season. What are the odds of Harry being installed as the new manager lol Surely Chelsea fans are not happy with the constant lack of stability? Chelsea is probably the most sought after job in world football if you want a quick payday
So the man that "won" them the Champions League is then sacked after a poor result in the same competition just a few months later. Irony at it's f*cking best.
Even if he did all that, it probably wouldn't have been with enough style to keep his job. This is the idiot that sacked Mourinho for God's sake. I'm ashamed to support a team that plays against them, so glad I am not a Chelsea fan!
Can you explain that comment SD? It reads to me that you are ashamed to support Spurs because we play in the same league! Is that right?
In a way I think I understand this decision better than some of Abramovich's other ones. RDM was supposed to be a caretaker and in terms of general performances he has a worse record than AVB. His CL win was very lucky - so perhaps Abramovich discounts that in terms of rating him as a manager. But for those people who say that Enic should sell up to an Abramovich type - be careful what you wish for.......
I'd never want that unless the billionaire buyer was a true Spurs fan and solely wanted what was best for the club and not just a hobby they can buy into for the sake of proving they're a rich f*ck who's able to chuck millions about like peanuts.
Never ashamed of Spurs! I guess what I was clumsily saying is that this sacking brings shame to all football clubs. In the end it brings shame solely on Chelsea, but tarnishes the football brand.
I thought you did not mean that. Yep it does reflect badly on football and it's chasing of money at all costs.
I don't want to write anything "wummy" on this thread, although I'd love to. I think it'll actually be an interesting conversation, especially when the likes of DL get involved. However, I think you're right, Dona. I don't think RA really wanted him, but RDM bought himself the job by winning the CL, especially with all the fans ranting and raving about how good he was after their "horrific" time with AVB. - RDM being ex player and all that too. We all know that the CL victory wasn't deserved, but I don't want to go into that because all we'll hear is the "bitter" comments. However, it really puts this negative "AVB did this at chelsea" or "AVB did that at chelsea" talk into perspective. If a manager can win the CL, (which the owner wanted so badly) as well as be sat 4 points behind the leaders in his first full season in charge, (after just 12games!!) and still get sacked... well it says everything about the owner. Not the managers. Stability and continuity are both so important. RA has sacked 8 managers in 8 years, right? Bearing in mind that he has always been able to get pretty much any one he's wanted due to money, you'd have thought thought he'd have learnt after 3 attempts that the sacking policy really doesn't work, not 8. Guardiola would be mad to take that job, IMO. His reputation is amazing from Barca, but RA's actions could ruin him if things don't go to plan. but seriously, if they get guardiola and he gets sacked.... who would actually then take charge? they've exhausted the options.
Let's be clear here, BOTH sackings were disgraceful. AVB because he was doing the job he was brought in to do and RDM because he won 2 cups whilst never playing that well. The table reflects well on AVB, but it doesn't say one sacking was justified more than the other.
not saying that at all, SD. I've said all along that AVB's sacking was disgraceful, and the same goes for RDM, in my previous post. Just wanted to show others those stats, who may not have seen them.
Sorry, didn't mean to suggest you had said that. Was just responding to your (v interesting) table, not assuming your intentions in using it. Apologies if I implied otherwise.
