I wished you lot would pay some dignified respect on here, the guy ain't even cold yet! #AnotherBlackArmBandWeekend
Nice bloke Ray, his issues with the ale are sad, not sure if his ticker problem relates but I hope he can recover from this, he’s a proper football man and really knows the game.
Very much my thoughts ... listening to how he speaks to people on the radio restores your faith in human nature ... very knowledgeable, very respectful and great humility. Wishing him a speedy recovery
A mate of mine at school was a Chelsea fan and a very good artist, he painted a picture of Ray playing at Stamford Bridge in circa '76 I think. Ray was just 18 and was the Chelsea Captain and my mate said he was going to be greater than Pele! He never quite reached those heights, but i've always liked him when i've heard him talk, seems like a very decent chap...keep fighting and get well soon Butch.
I like the way he refers to anyone under the age of 55 as “young man”. Didn’t realise what a player he was as I only just caught the end of his career but seen some wonderful highlights today.
Has not looked good since his drink driving arrest tbh. Was really impressed with his honesty after his arrest...no self pity, no excuses just remorse which seemed genuine.
I like Ray Wilkins. He used to be quite anti-Spurs, but then seemed to undergo a massive paradigm shift when Poch took over, and has been very fair - not a sycophant, but very complimentary when credit has been due. I like listening to him on TalkSport. I hope he recovers from this.
I met Ray about ten years ago at a charity do. He was the guest speaker. He may not have been very entertaining as a raconteur on stage but he was a very nice, unassuming guy who the guests liked chatting to when he worked the room. I hope he makes a rapid and full recovery.
Captained Chelsea very young. Became a crab after on and off field at United. Chelsea through and through. Get well Butcher
