No, I am not suggesting that we go for him as our manager but this man has a wealth of knowledge, contacts and experience that could be of huge benefit to us. He is very well thought of in the game and many good judges put Chelsea's slump down to him leaving the club. True they recovered to win the CL but they don't look anything like the team they did when he was there giving his input - and that is a popular belief with people in the know. I don't know who our manager is going to be but, if he is going to be a high profile figure, then perhaps Wilkins wouldn't mind working with him. I doubt, for instance that he would consider it demeaning to work with someone like Laudrup and he should certainly gel with ex Chelsea man Poyet. Obviously it all depends on finance, but the word is that Wilkins is desperate to get back into the game and therefore he might temper his demands to regain a foothold. He would also offer some insurance in the event that our next manager goes belly up as he would be an experienced hand who could take the reins until we sorted ourselves out. Just a thought. Oh, and he would be light years ahead of Pascoe.
We could do far worse than appoint him manager. I agree with you on Chelsea's slump. It was much to coincidental to not be cause and effect. I woud like to see AVB and Wilkins as a team. It would be the best of two worlds. AVB as the aggressive, ambitious progressive, backed and tempered where necessary by the old hand that knows the Prem very well. Both with great connections in the game.
Has anyone outside the forum linked him with us? In theory maybe it's a goer but I think he'd want number one.
