if they terminated Ronaldo's/Bales/Messi's/ contracts it still won't help us out. We are Doomed i tell you!
I thought much the same thing. My understanding is that he is due to join Lazio on 01 June 2015, so I'm guessing as a free agent he could sign a short term contract. That's one hurdle. The next question is whether this can be accommodated within the published 25-man squad. I thought the same about Benoît Assou-Ekotto too. I know it all went a bit sour, but with Tim Sherwood allegedly taking the helm, we could do with all the help we can get and these two players are young, skilled and experienced in the EPL. Granted I'm clutching at thin straws.....
If there's a meeting of minds in both camps, I think this can be navigated - as Frank Lampard has proven, given that he signed a pre-contract with New York City FC. Again, I'm clutching at very, very thin straws here!
Pre-contracts are not all they are presumed to be..... Often more good-will and agreements in principle Will depend on the wording
Likely this paves the way for:- Ravel Morrison: West Ham midfielder in Italy for Lazio talks West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has travelled to Italy with his club's consent in order to sign a pre-contract agreement with Lazio. According to Ferguson's assistant, Mike Phelan. "He had a tendency to disappear for the odd day or two, then we would manage to find him and bring him back," Phelan told Radio 5 live in October 2013."One day he was there and then another he wasn't." You can't sign him. The 25 man squad wouldn't be an issue because he was born in 1993 so he'd go on the U21s list and you can add to that at any time. He wasn't a free agent at the end of the transfer window though, so even though he is now you can't register him until the summer. It's like when Sol Campbell left Notts County in about September and had to wait until January to play. I suspect it's a case of he's agreed a deal to join Lazio in the summer and he doesn't figure in West Ham's plans. Rather than pay him in full for 6 months to sit around doing nothing for them they'll have agreed a settlement to let him go early and settle into life out there ahead of joining Lazio.
I think "the best player since Gascoigne" is a loaded compliment. I'd rather sign a "best" player since someone without problems.
