Is it just the players though? Ratts seems to think they're substandard for this division but I'm not so sure about that.

Marshall/Moore are as good as any for our keeper next year.

Manga/Turner/Morrison/Connolly (if he comes back) - seem pretty decent choices at CB.

Peltier/Fabio/John/(Malone?) - Maybe just OK, but could do with at least another class option at FB.

Whitts/Gunnar/Noone/Kennedy/Pilks/Ralls/Adeyemi/Harris - on the face of it half decent if played in the right system/combination in midfield but Slade has failed to do that consistently.

Revell/Doyle/Mason/Macheda/Le Fondre/Maynard/Healey up front - now this is where I agree with Ratts.

This collection are going to win us nothing unless Mason and/or Healy come of age. Revell has no first touch and is a League One dog. Doyle is a runner and has been unlucky to be fair, but he has yet to prove his worth at Champ level. Macheda has classy feet but lacks any pace over the ground at all, and for 6'2" it's embarrassing to watch his efforts with his head - no good up front on his own. Maynard looks like he's terminally crocked for this level, and although ALF has done it before, he's firmly on the "jury's out" list at the moment.

We need some class up front in particular and that costs money. Will Tan accept that or are we going to just look to stay in the Championship next season. Even if we keep hold of the likes of Marshie and Manga, if no one else of note is brought in up front and Slade stays, I can see Ratts being right.
